Tricked Out NERF Gun (PIC HEAVY)

I felt like I needed a new blaster for my Sith costume.  I wanted it small.  I looked around and found that I had this old NERF gun.


I grabbed some black gloss enamel spray.


Then I went to Walmart and got three different acrylic paints.
Gloss Black


Gun Metal Grey


and Antique Copper


Here is the gun after just the black spray


And the finished product.  I wanted it to look used, but not too beat up.

I also used a clear coat to protect it.

Oh, and I also revamped my prop saber so that it matched the blaster.


Lastly, the dynamic duo


So tell me what you think, or give me ideas for the future.

Thanks Blue!  I really like how the copper paint turned out.  I wanted it to be part of the project but not overpowering.  I keep wanting to add something to the saber, but I don't know what...

Very cool. The saber looks much better now that you painted it. I like the gun, too, but since you asked for suggestions, I will offer what I would do. I would add a thin barrel to the gun, kind of like the pistol that Padme carried in the Clone Wars. Of course, her's was more curved and feminine looking, but the overall profile was cool. I think if you got a dowel rod or a piece of thin PVC pipe (something that would slide into the NERF barrel) and painted it to match, that would look cool and make it look more full sized. Of course, it does look great as is, too. This is just a thought if you wanted to go further. Nice job.

and it would mean if you didn't like it, it wouldn't be a very permanent addition, or you could easily change the look of it (long barrel vs short barrel) depending on how you felt that day

I dunno, I like the concept without a visible barrel.  That whole "holdout blaster" or BUG (Back Up Gun) is a great idea.  Never know when you might need a concealed blaster.

  Yeah, that's kind of what I was going for.  Kind of like the Derringer of Star Wars.
