Potential Idea for Blade tips?

I was thinking after being introduced to an idea about how to make the blade tip light up more consistently with the blade of a saber, and I came up with this idea.

What if you took the blade tip and hollowed it out a bit to allow space for the same reflective material inside the blade body itself, then had the reflective mirror at the very top of the tip in the inside?

This way, you get the same/similar lighting in the blade tube and tip, without allowing the light to escape the tip of the blade.

I drafted a quick diagram in MSPaint. This is just a simple depiction to get the idea across.

I could see that working. But instead of the side of the tip tapering down towards the blade,  drill a half inch wide hole into the tip from the bottom three quarters of the way up. This would give the bullet tip more strength and the sides wouldn't be so thin. If it was hollowed out like the way you have it drawn out,  there wouldn't be much of the tip glued to the blade thus easy breakage and tip loss. But either way you look at it the spot where the mirrored disk goes has to be flat in order to get the max reflection down the blade.

Oh I know. It was just a small illustration to get the idea. I figured there would be different ways to drill it.

I figured I could search the "Other Guys", but I wanted to make a thread here to toss around the idea and perhaps maybe even get some feedback from US themselves. =P

I'd say your idea should work, but I fear it's a bit 'work-intense' to hollow out the tip, so I'm not sure whether US would/could do it big scale.

I love the other idea of just reducing the size of the mirror to get a glowing tip (as it's even simpler than drilling holes )

Only 'downside' for mass production would be to find a source of those smaller mirrors; I don't know whether one can buy those in right size.
But I've heard that some people use a punch press for cutting their Lee filters, so I guess the same would be possible for the reflective sticker...

I have also read that cutting the disk down the slightest bit(just enough to see the base of the tip) and then cutting a hole in the center of the disk actually works well. I have not yet tried this method yet but I have seen pics and it looks pretty good.

Well I tried to cut out the center of the disk and I murdered it in the process. I didn't know how to cut out the center so I tried to drill it out and that worked out miserably. Fortunately I remembered that there was some sort of mirror like swatch in the Lee filter booklets like have and lo and behold there it was. So I just cut the new disk out and re glued everything and it worked beautify. Needless to say I won't be trying that again.
