Like the title says, this is the place for us to discuss all things Who. I am sure that there are many different ideas on series, stories, and of course the Doctor himself. That said I thought that there were enough of us out there to warrant a topic dedicated to Dr. Who.

For me, I started watching Who only this last year. I started with 9, 10, and 11, and have recently started watching the original Doctors. I've seen 1, 2, and 3 so far.

Maybe it is merely because they were he Doctor and companion that I started with, but I loved Nine and Rose. I loved Ten just as well as Nine, but did not overly like Eleven. He just didn't strike the right chord with me, though I am particularly fond of Amy Wink

For the originals, I really enjoyed One, and even Two. I'm not a fan of Three though. Again, he just doesn't strike that chord, that mysterious thing in my mind that accepts him as the Doctor.

For creatures, I love the Daleks, the Ood, the Weeping Angels, and the Nestene. Honourable mention to the Silence for being just plain interesting.

I don't necessarily have a favourite story arc, though watching Nine's season (series) always gets me. Seriously, I love the whole Bad Wolf revelation.

Anyway, that's my blurb for now. I hope there are others interested in discussing Who.

I like 11 the best and have a mad crush on Amy Pond.  I haven't seen all the seasons, only catching episodes here and there on Netflix and this last season on BBC.  I particularly like the episode on the Cold-War era Soviet Submarine.  (I like the actor who played the captain, who is also from the Game of Thrones series)

My favorite alien character is Strax and the Daleks are my favorite villains.

Oh Ben, you are about to meet the Fourth Doctor soon then, he is amazing, his name is Tom Baker and he is the legendary Doctor that wore the scarf!  I love most of the Doctors, the only ones I'm not fond of are the First and Sixth, the others are all really good.  The Dalaks are my favorite villain and a few favorite episodes are "Genesis of the Dalaks", "Day of the Dalaks (Special Edition)", "Blink", "The End of Time (parts 1 and 2)",  "The Ark in Space", "The War Games", "Inferno", and "The Eleventh Hour".

Very cool to read guys. Yes, I'm nearly to Baker. I'm interested to see what I think of him.

On another note, I just saw the test script for the 12th Doctor's audition.

Seems to me that the new Doctor could either be considerably taller, or shorter. I saw make him taller and make him me! I think a 6'6 Doctor would be interesting Wink

Well, I've made it to Four, and he reminds me a lot of Nine, which is a very good thing! You're right, I like Four!

Yes, Four is a legend.  He played the Doctor for a record setting SEVEN seasons!  Nine and Four also have the same BIG smile Tongue

That IS impressive! Their noses are similar also, as are some of their mannerisms.

I found my love through PBS and watching #4... Tom Baker just set the standard for me and I agree, I saw a lot of Baker in Christopher Eccleston's portrayal as #9.  He just had that proper on the edge of insane quality.

#5 was always just fun to watch, he was quite amusing and over the top, especially loved the celery as a boutonniere in his jacket.  #6, #7 sort of run together for me and without seeing pictures of them I forget the order of which one is which, but it was British TV in the 80's so they all sorta feel the same.

#8 was a 1996 made for TV movie and I loved it, honestly it was new Doctor Who and I was 21 and finally really started to understand the show.

Then we hit the current series starting with #9... what is there to be said, it's fun, it's funny, it's smart, it's snappy and it's still everything it was from the beginning.  I really wish Eccleston had done more than a single season, but that was actually his contract from the beginning and he did get a whole new generation loving the series.

#10, David Tennant, I do admit, this is my man crush  (it used to be Sean Connery, but damn he got OLD.)  The only issue I end up having with #10's run is Martha Jones, was never a big fan of hers, she just felt too know it all as a companion.  I adored Donna Noble.

#11, Matt Smith, my daughter loves him and has a crush on him, he definitely took some getting used to as the doctor (about 2-3 episodes for me.)

I couldn't nail down a specific story arc, any of the ones with John Simms as the Master, especially the final ones leading to Tennant's death... and the War of the Medusa Cascade arc, with all the companions coming together to stop the rise of the Dalek Crucible.

I could keep going, but I think I've fanboy'd enough

"Human Nature"...David Tennant (Tenth Doctor)...Freema Agyeman (Martha Jones)...I will not give any of it away, it is a good one.

"City of Death"...Tom Baker (Fourth Doctor)...Lalla Ward (Romana)...one of the best 4th Dr episodes.

"The Eleventh Hour"...Matt Smith (Eleventh Doctor)...Karen Gillan (Amy Pond)...an alien prisoner hunt, good times.

"The Seeds Of Doom"...Tom Baker (Fourth Doctor)...Elisabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane Smith)...tons of action and science horror!

"The Girl in the Fireplace"...David Tennant (Tenth Doctor)...award winning, great story.

"The Talons of Weng-Chiang"...Tom Baker (Fourth Doctor)...Louise Jameson (Leela)....an interesting blend of genres.

"The Empty Child"...Christopher Eccleston (Ninth Doctor)...Billie Piper (Rose Tyler) & John Barrowman (Jack Harkness)...really creepy episode.

"Genesis of the Daleks"...Tom Baker (Fourth Doctor)...Elisabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane Smith) & Ian Marter (Harry Sullivan)...the alpha and omega of entry into the Daleks.

But to be honest...I could recommend most of the episodes...the newer ones more so because of the production values.

One of my few Dr Who peeves...Donna Noble.

Whew...I never warmed up to the attitude, mannish looks, and the aggression...but she was in several good episodes,  David Tennant is one of my favorite Dr's of all of them so it makes it hard because I disliked her so much...it kept me at odds.

I appreciated her more at the end I guess, she had moments.  It is almost like she belonged in another time, which is ironic...she was and is just not my cuppa.

Sad

But the good news is that there are lots of options!

It is curious how much we can like the same things but not all the same things.

Cheesy

Seconded, though my wife thinks, with the amount of young viewers Tennant and Smith added, that going older may be a mistake.  Time will tell, and look forward to it no matter what.

This is also my biggest worry as well.
