Aeon LE V3 Customizations

Howdy Saberforum! A few months back I posted a review on my first saber, the Aeon V3 Le, and I felt like customizing it a bit, and now I'm here to show y'all what I've done.

First, I wrapped a few sections in what I describe as bandage tape, because I found it in my garage somewhere and it feels like a bandage...


Here is the full hilt, showing the spiked pommel from the other guys.


My custom blade plug, which started as 'solid' color blade plug from TOG, which I removed the plain metal disc and inserted and glued a doorbell ringer from Home Depot, which fit almost perfectly after I pulled the 'prongs' backwards. BTW for anyone who hasn't taken out the solid metal disc in their blade plug, just let me say, it is rather difficult and takes a lot of force to punch it out from the hollow side, so be prepared.




And here it is ignited in the emitter, which doesn't look as cool on camera.


And this is the standard pommel which I did a tad of customization to.

You're covering up most of the gold with those wraps. I do like the doorbell blade plug, pure genius! Point for that.

I'm making a couple blade plugs and agree, it's a pain getting that little disk out!

Yeah I know it seems like I'm ruining the purpose of LE, but I really just wanted the gold/brass at the emitter area in the first place, so I'm not worried about it.

You may be able to take a sharp exacto knife and cut the bandage out of the grooves.  Would make for an interesting look, though I like it how it is.  Has a kind of desert wanderer feel.

Yeah that's what I thought at first, but I just did some modifications, tell me if you guys like it better.


Its bicycle inner tubing, I spent an hour getting it on there......


EDIT: And I'll consider your idea Kyaryo.
EDIT2: Oh, and just for clarity, my original reason for the 'bandage tape', is because when I first 'trained/used' the saber, the grooves on the chokes slightly cut into my hand, the way freshly cut metal does....

Since you asked for opinions...I liked it better before the inner tube was added. The tape looks good and should darken with time and handling and look even better.

Simple modifications are fun and always worht trying. Good ideas.

I like the finished product. Has a "pieced together out of some stuff I found in the wasteland" feel to it.

I like the bandaged look better than the tire segment.

Okay, I really appreciate everyone's opinion, and this will be my last mod to this saber (maybe).
Just a few little touches to make it look a little more complete.




So, what does everyone think about these final updates, and should I:
A: get rid of the bandages on the top chokes.
B: keep them
C: replace with black wrap/tape something I'll find.

Personally, I'd replicate the black wrap and o-rings in place of the tape. JMHO.

I agree with you Khaalis, that's why THIS is now the finished product:




I might add I think this is the best looking way I've had my saber so far, and BY FAR the most comfortable.
On the top chokes I used black grip tape, or skateboard tape, with o-rings around it.

P.S. I'm going to be making a quick tutorial on how to make those blade plugs, so keep an eye out for that.

Nice. I like it. I did like the tape one better at first though. Gave kind of a bone look to the saber.

Looks great. So all the wrap is biker inner tube?

No, the top two chokes, are black grip tape also called skateboard tape sometimes, with o-rings on it.
