It actually fits in my hands quite comfortably. That rail is made for being gripped in the palm of you hand anyway. Also, that notch between the rail and the accessory bolted on near the emitter is a good place to put your forefinger, giving you some leverage when swinging it around. Also, the extra weight at the bottom end helps with the balance. Overall, I think it's a very comfortable set-up. The only bummer is that there's not much room for accessories, laser-sight, flashlights, grenade launchers and such. Don't think that hasn't occurred to me!

put a fore grip on the emitter tail section that you added and you'll get a nice guard shoto.
