it's made from steel and brass locomotive engine plumbing. Not sure where I'm going to go beyond this maybe some paint or O- rings on the indentions. I think that it has a scavenged look to it. What do y'all think? I'm open to suggestions.

It definitely looks scavenged. Like it was made by a Jedi who was stranded.  It also looks very heavy. I hope you have a good sturdy belt. Cheesy

It weighs a pound or so but it's not to heavy. I'm going to add a d-ring to attach it to a belt. The inside is hollow so I may add electronics later.

Sounds like a good plan. Can't wait to see the  finished product.

I like it, has a Dieselpunk vibe to it with the locomotive bits.
Definitely looks like this Jedi made it himself like Old Ben's.

You could stack some O-rings on the indented parts as you mentioned before. Sometime inexpensive LED flashlights (like at check outs and hardware stores) have textured rubber sleeves on them that could be slipped over a section or two. Metal wire could be wrapped around the indented sections repeatedly similar to the O-ring idea but would make it look more rustic/junkyard-like.

I'm not sure if have to measure and I'm at work right now. I do know that if I were to add electronics I would have to use an inline battery setup. And there would be no room for sound.

Sound, while epic, is not always necessary. I quite enjoy having a few silent sabers around. Sometimes, one just wants to be stealthy. Cool

Now, as for your hilt... it looks great! I love the lower grips and the emitter, in particular. Very OT feel to them. Very Old Ben, as someone said above. Smiley Personally, I'd go looking for some manner of box or clamp for the switch area, but that's my personal tastes. I'm a huge Activation Box nut. Wink lol

And I have to ask: Where on earth did you get LOCOMOTIVE PARTS? I would flip if I could find train guts for a saber! That is too cool! Lightside point for you.  Cool

I'm with Manroon on that, locomotive parts are definitely something unique to your saber. Can't wait to see it lit up if you go all the way with it.

I work on a dredge and we have a 3600 hp locomotive engine that turns a 24 inch pump. We have a bin with random fittings. I got bored one night and pieced it together.
