As per the request, this is a closer look at the MHS components of the Catalyst and a look at the MLS unit Smiley I hope you guys find the information helpful

Sorry about the battery bit; I couldn't get the leverage with just the one hand plus hold the camera straight... but, yeah, the way I've wrapped the batteries makes it super easy to get out, but only if you have two free hands Tongue

Anyway, here's the technical text, and just leave your comments about how the MLS unit is different (I'm quite interested) plus any other comment you have Smiley

MHS measurement details in text:
(components are directionally male or female, and the length added to the saber is given to nearest 1/2 cm **inches are guesses, and my be off by 1/4"**)
Threading = 1 cm, which will be lost when screwed into female end

Pommel (m) = 3 cm (1.25")
Emitter (m) = 5.5 cm overall (2.5 of which is the crowning) (2.25" and 1")
Choke (f/m) = 6.5 cm (3")
Hilt body (f/f) = 18 cm (7")

OVERALL: 33 cm (13")

Blade 'eaten' = 4.5 cm (1.75")
Blade plug extends 1 cm (<0.5") beyond the crown of the emitter.

Good info to have. Thanks, Xaeyon.

Such a unique and deadly-looking saber. The emitter/choke combination is just so damn cool.  Cool

Pointage.

Oooooohhhhhh.

Fascinating.  So that's what the LED looks like.  That is MUCH different then how I always envisioned it.  I always thought the LED was connected in some way to the choke.
It is much flatter then the regular MLS and LED units, but especially the ones that support Quick-Disconnect.  I finally see why the Catalyst wouldn't normally support Quick-Disconnect and why a regular unit will not fit into the choke.
Technically, QD could still be added, only the Catalyst LED would have to be transferred with the choke to whatever saber we modify it too, like a Manticore or Overlord, etc.

Thank you so much Xaeyon, but especially in being extremely thorough in the video to the best of you ability.

I would actually very much like this post to be stickied in some way as it may be the only video ever to go in-depth on the Catalyst, a saber which I feel has always been rather elusive in appearance.

Have another point... or eight!  Cheesy

Thanks Waxman Smiley I'm glad this answered all your questions. I'd always wondered what made the standard MLS so different, and points to you for a good explanation.

I'm loving mine. The narrow choke point makes it feel like my real swords. I can't imagine using a fat grip unless I was doing a staff saber.
