There is no Dark, nor Light. Only The Force.

« on: March 23, 2014, 08:48:56 PM »

Personally I think Boba Fett is the most bad ass character of em all. I mean sure Darth Vader is a freakin tank that's taken bombs to the face, been torn apart on several occasions, and killed countless other Jedi, but Boba Fetta not only survived and climbed out of a sarlac, but he freaking TORTURED it before killing it. I'm sorry but if you can do that, you deserve the galaxy's "#1 Bad Ass" award.

What's yalls opinion?

ps: balance the light and dark points please. keep it between (-1) - (1)

If it includes the entire universe and not limited to movies or tv shows only, then my choice is Jacen Solo.  Still learning more and more about him but the things I like about him thus far are:

1.  Willing to give and sacrifice everything for the love of his daughter.

2.  Has learned force techniques thought to have died before Order 66.

3.  Learned much of what he knew on his own.

4.  Traveled places and times that people only wondered about.

5.  X-wing pilot.

6.  Had a way with animals.

7.  Wasn't ashamed to be in love with a one armed woman.

If it's EU, I'll probably go with Exar Kun.

After being consumed by the dark side, learning the powers of the Sith, and benefiting from the power of Freedon Nadd's amulet, Kun's power in the Force became extraordinary. He had a strong Force sense, the ability of Force Flight, and was capable of emitting Force Blasts from his hands that could crumble stone walls and kill Sithspawn with a single hit. Jedi Oss Wilum described him as "immensely strong with the Force." His studies of ancient Sith scrolls, and the designs of Naga Sadow on Yavin 4, also gave Kun a more than working mastery of Sith alchemy. Near the end of the Sith War, Kun's prowess in the dark side had reached esoteric levels, such as when he drained the life-force out of almost the entire Massassi race and when he abandoned his mortal body. Aside from Basic, he could speak Catharese, Kreva, Twi'leki, Tetan, Arkanian and Sith languages.

Otherwise, Darth Vader. Although right now I'm reading Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader, and he just keeps on whining and wallowing in self-pity all the time. It is quite irritating to both Darth Sidious and me.

My absolute favourite? Count Dooku aka Darth Tyranus!

I love the fact that he can be counted among both the most powerful Jedi and Sith of the era, conceivably of all time.

To back this claim up, consider his battles against Kenobi and Skywalker. On each occasion he held his own and used a mixture of exquisite saber skills and steam-roller Force powers to overwhelm them. (I STILL refuse to count the plot contrivence in Episode III that allowed Anakin to "beat" him....so that Vader could be born!) For those who haven't seen season 6 of The Clone Wars yet, I won't spoil it, other than to say that Kenobi and Skywalker and an entire legion of troops are STILL no match for the tall, imposing Sith Lord!

His battles against Sith were equally successful, regularly beating his own one-time apprentice Asajj Ventress (a notoriously skilled Jedi killer), even when she was assisted by the man mountain, Savage Opress, or two of her fellow Nightsisters AND having poisoned Dooku!

Also, it is well recorded in various places that his Jedi powers were considerable, and they would HAVE to be to go toe to toe with Grandmaster Yoda! Ventress could not cope with Yoda's Force powers, but Dooku matches him, although cannot beat him. (Let's be honest, who COULD?)

But Dooku also develops several very high level Sith Darkside powers; among these, Force Lightning and the more interesting Force Torture. The former is used against Skywalker, Savage Opress, Asajj Ventress and the Nightsisters, and even Yoda (though he counters it with Tutaminis quite successfully) The latter power, Force Torture is used to exquisite effect against Asajj Ventress in the novel, "Yoda: Dark Rendezvous" where Dooku reimposes his dominance over the would-be Sith by torturing her to the point of almost throwing up and passing out with nothing more than a jab of a finger; and of course his power in the Darkside. Finger jab Force users other than Dooku include Luke Skywalker (in the Legacy of the Force series) and Darth Sidious (in Return of the Jedi). Again demonstrating the exhaulted company Dooku keeps.

As a lightsaber duellist, Dooku is at the very least, a form II Makashi Master, though I do believe his skill set to be more than JUST that form. However he is skilled enough to regularly compete with multiple, saber-wielding opponents; something that is meant to be a weakness of Form II. He is also sufficiently knowledgeable to train the Ataru-wielding Qui-Gon Jinn, and the dual saber toting Komari Vosa, Keelyvine Reus and Asajj Ventress. He also spent time training Savage Opress, a saberstaff wielder. But his most radical student HAS to be General Grievous, who he is shown (in the earlier Clone Wars Cartoon) utterly embarrassing, even fighting him LEFT-FREAKING-HANDED and NOT looking where Grievous is coming from!

Beyond the mundanities of Dooku's Force powers and Lightsaber skills though, I just LOVE his style; the imposing nature he has, his sense of Chivalry (albeit a bit skewed) and the flair of the man! He is, in style, a true Sith Knight, but with more than sufficient power and expertise to be considered a Master.

In the Original Trilogy I'd have to go with Matatabi and say Boba Fett. In the Prequel Trilogy Darth Maul. Mainly because of the double lightsaber and spikes on his head. He looks Badass. I was rooting for him over Obi-Wan. xD Outside of that, I'll have to say Galen Marek (Starkiller). I really like the storyline to do with that character, even though parts in the second game (TFUII) could have been done a bit better and/or more of them.

My love for Dooku doesn't really extend past his curved saber. And his training of others. (Grievous/Asajj Ventress/Savage Opress) I totally get why others really like him though.

In the films, Yoda. Enough said.

Including everything else I've read/played/seen, I'd have to go with either Kreia or Jolee.

From the movies, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Nothing to say that hasn't been said before about him. From the EU, Nomi Sunrider and Exar Kun tie that one.

Sunrider has an AWESOME story behind her. She even severed the Force from a SITH LORD!!! Won't spoil who for those who don't know her story. I recommend reading up about her on the Wook. Btw, she was talked about highly by Jolee Bindo on Knights of the Old Republic.

Exar Kun is just pure awesome! Leaving the Jedi Order by choice and curiosity to the dark side, he voluntarily became the Dark Lord of the Sith. The only Sith Lord of his time to be of Jedi upbringing and not born into the Sith culture, Exar Kun's fall was one of the biggest threats the galaxy had faced since the Sith Empire left known space after the Great Hyperspace Wars. Not to mention he wielded a double bladed Lightsaber modified from his Jedi saber, a Guardian Blue blade and the reason why I have a GB MLS unit for my saber!

Always will be Qui Gon Jin as far as non expanded ... Still doing a lot of reading of the EU through books and comic books and still trying to ascertain another. I like Jacen Solo, I like Mace Windu and other types but I would have I say for now it's Qui Gon - a lot of that comes from Liam Neesons portrayal but yeah

As I mentioned in my intro Han Solo is probably my favorite all-time character BUT and that's a big BUT (that's what she said) it depends on the day you ask me. During the PT I was a HUGE fan of Anakin -- greatest Jedi ever. But I also love Chewie, Yoda, Obi-wan, Leia, Luke, Clones, Jawas, Plo Koon, Auyrra Sing, Asajj Ventress etc... basically I love just about everything Star Wars, which I suspect, you do as well. It's why it's easily the most beloved and enduring mythology in American culture and will be as long as this modern civilization survives.

Hmmm

For Jedi type persons I would have to say Luke Skywalker.  Being 48, having seen NH in theaters on the first run/first showing/first day, growing up with Star Wars...Luke was and is this Jedi fan's Alpha and Omega.

*****

For sith, because everyone knows how much I just love the sith lol...I do have a favorite sith actually...for the reasons mentioned and more...bringing class to the Star Wars galaxy, he brought sexy back, Count Dooku...and as the pic displays her also, I am a fan of Asajj Ventres as well.

*****

For a non-Force type, it has to be Han.  For all the up front reasons and for providing a foundation for Mal and so many others to be built upon.  He shot first and last.

Lol...you were not here in the beginning so let me tell how it happened.

I came into the forum with full intent to represent a completely different alien...this was the original Jedi Rel

I started building a full head piece and my wife came into my studio and said "what the hell is that".  I explained and showed her all my reference art, she said "that is so ugly, I hate it".

It made me take a step back and reconsider.  She normally likes odd Star Wars and other alien types.  In this case she really did not like this one.  So I found a dozen others for her to look through, I said nothing.  She picked the Rel you all know.  I had numbered the back of each 1-12.  We picked the same #1.

So there you go.

I hold the mantle high, but until they call me for the role to bring the wonder that is blue fury to the world at large, it will be a more private appreciation!

Nice thought thought  Cheesy

Interesting question.

For Film characters, I think I'd have to call it a tie between Boba Fett and Luke Skywalker.  Both are badass for totally different reasons.

Including the EU, no contest: Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Not only was he one of the best villains of the whole SW universe, he was NOT a Force user.  Tactical genius, and willing to admit he's wrong and retreat when the situation calls for it.  He doesn't throw away troops needlessly either.

Oh, and on no less than 3 occasions he stood up to the Emperor himself and refused to launch the campaign in question.  If that ain't badass, I don't know what it.

I have to say Han. Funny, charismatic, and a total badass. As far as jedi, I gotta go with yoda. Sith, vader all day. Bounty hunter, boba of course. Leia comes close to the list. She's pretty BA herself.

Han didn't shoot first, as first insinuates more than one person fired a shot.
