I am a Jedi, like my father before me.

So, this has been going on: http://thisismadness.starwars.com/

And with me being a huge fan of General Grievous (just read his story on wookiepedia), I got to wondering; what makes Boba Fett so great?
Seriously, he's like....everyone's favorite bad guy, but why? In the movies, all he really does is turn in Han to Jabba. He doesn't even capture him! Darth Vader gives him Han as a present. And then Fett gets eaten by a hole in the sand.

Discuss.

You learn a great deal more about him in EU books.  Boba is from a warrior culture that has successfully taken on the Jedi in the past.  His fighting techniques puts him on par with a Jedi even though he does not have force abilities.

Boba is also a wild card.  He really has allegiances to no one but himself and fellow Mandolorians.

He is kind of like the Batman of the SW universe.

Makes sense. I'm familiar with Mandalorians from various games.

Never cared much for Batman either. Maybe that's why I don't get him.

Boba Fett greater than Batman?

Batman was able to stop the entire iconic core of the Justice League...Boba Meh lost his head to one Jedi.

Wha wha whaaaaaaaa lol.

Preteen Robin is even greater than Boba Meh.

^ That's a pretty crappy argument when you consider the fact that Batman is fictional. Anyone can write whatever the heck they want in fiction. I could write a story right now where Boba Fett wipes out the entire Jedi Order if I really wanted to, then use that as an argument for why he is the better fighter. It's all the same, really. And it's all rubbish as well.

Also, since when did Boba Fett lose his head? That was Jango.

Yeah Rel, Boba Fett never lost his head.  Plus he trained Jaina Solo to fight her brother when he became Darth Caedus.

Boba Fett is very unique, I wont go to far into detail to prevent spoilers but he is a very inspirational leader

For starters...Boba Fett isn't a "Bad Guy". He's a bounty hunter. He does what he gets paid to do.

That aside,

Boba Fett is popular because of the EU. His original role in the Original Trilogy was so minute people of the fanbase were tempted to create more of a character behind him. You know, you had this Bounty Hunter that was hired by Vader himself to hunt down some of the lead targets of the Empire. He had to be pretty badass for that to have happened, you know? Anywho, because of his lack of background and character, writers and developers of the Extended Universe created stories and other things that shaped his character into this sort of uber, god-tier figure of the Star Wars continuity. That's really all there is to it. It's a fan thing.

True true...my loyalty for Batman caused me to jumble my SW facts lol.

As for Hobbit, being one of the most vocal Bat-family supporters taking the Boba Meh side of the argument...what has the forum come to?  What's next, power rangers are just for little kids?   Grin

Why is Boba so popular?  Because Boba is as classic a villain, and yes he is a bad guy, as Vader...faceless, formidable, and cool in his Mando before Mando was cool armor.

^ I wasn't taking anyone's side, I was simply saying that the entire argument is pointless because it all depends on the writer and what they want. Batman could defeat Boba Fett, Boba Fett could defeat Batman, and I could take Superman's head off with a roundhouse kick. It's all possible because, once again, it's all fiction.

Boba Fett wasn't a villain per se, he was a bounty hunter.  Han Solo had a bounty.  He didn't care about the civil war.
