Hey all, a question:  My daughter and I are working on a long chase/duel for our fall festival.  For various reasons we're trying to stay away from the obvious SW Jedi/Sith costumes in favor of a "Street Clothes' look.

So, what are the essential elements of a "modern Jedi" outfit?  Thoughts?  Comments?  Right now I'm leaning toward a "mercenary" kind of look for myself, as I'm the dark character, with black cargo pants, black T-shirt and loose black over-shirt.  And of course my Dominix V3...

Sounds good to me so far.  Maybe add a mask of some sort, like a paintball mask or some such.

Hmm...  Actually, the "ninja mask" that many snow boarders use would be very cool.  Get the "Winter Soldier" look going...  I like it.  :-)

For a Sith/bounty hunter/bad guy - you can't go wrong with black leather. It's durable and fits/wears very well (if you're planning to play the character more than once), and it can look cool and mean. I don't recommend a jacket if you're duelling (it will severely hamper movement) but leather jeans and/or a leather vest/waistcoat would be neat. Try a local second-hand store/thrift store/factory seconds outlet for potential bargains. Velvet would also work well for Sith, I think - a dark coloured waistcoat (dark red, burgundy?); a little flamboyance never hurt a bad guy's look!

I'm not much for following the Order.

Going off of this, I am planning on buying a black gothic trenchcoat, and I am going to see if I can get a local tailor to put one of those black oversized hoods that Jedi/Sith robes have onto the coat. It will be both my costume coat, and my actual coat.

Unlike the Jedi, Sith don't limit their potential when it comes to the Force.

I only need two strikes to win a duel: One to make my opponent open to attack, and another to exploit that opening.

My custom saber: Oxyx Ignis

Actually my daughter had a great idea last night to go with a "western" feel.  Long dusters and "gun belts" as it were for sabers and such.  Also will probably throw in a holstered blaster.  Never know when having a "conventional" side-arm might come in handy.  :-)

That is a spectacular idea.  Pretty sure I'd copy that if I had the cash to do it.

Also a great idea.   And I love the idea of carrying a lightsaber and a sidearm.  So here's a little Space Cowboy inspiration:

here's a take on the "Urban Sith" type look. Leather jacket, dark/black jeans, black belt. And a saber of course. haha just add in some dark makeup and it's all set for a street clothes fight. Cheesy

Very nice Aletani!

We're getting close to finalizing the look.  I'll post some pics as soon as we get it settled.  :-)

What type of shoes/boots would work for this idea? I might throw something together. I have the perfect leather jacket that can work. Smiley

I think that's a little bit exaggerated, but i'll try to take that as a compliment.... Wink such is my normal everyday wear after all, us nerd ladies have to stay sharp. Roll Eyes

I have a pair of Romika's that I use, black leather, inside zipper, modern sleek look:

Also, these Cushe sneakers that I have work well for a more urban look, the above following along the star wars guildlines of no obvious lacing or zippers:

obviously sneakers like these and a male equivalent of the romikas i think would complement the urban outfit well, especially coupled with a leather jacket like in my pic. Smiley

and I'm sorry, I don't mean to take over the thread, just giving my examples of what i would use for an Urban Sith/Jedi type outfit. Smiley
