Recently I've seen forum members show interest in having some engraving or etching done on there sabers/ shrouds. So I'm gona show y'all how I did some of mine for a current project I'm working on.

Let's go over what you'll need.
1. A varable dremel tool with dimond tip engraving bits ( the extension is verry handy)
2. The part to be engraved ( the example I'm using is one of a two part shroud .)
3. Fine tip permanet marker
4. The patteren your going to use or you can free hand ( this example is done free hand)
5. Pleanty of light
And don't forget when working with power tools SAFETY FIRST!

Ok first get your pattern and either cut out the dark parts so you have a stencle or if your feel'n froggy you can just free hand it.

Then finalize your pattern

If its free hand don't worry about mistakes its just a guid. If your that mutch of a prefectionest you can use a papper towel an a dab of rubing alchol.

Next step start grinding away using a fine tip at first so you can get your lines in. And remember to go slow working one section at a time and to clean the dust as you work

Ok now we have most of our designe done. This would be a good time to go haead and clean off that marker, just a little hand soap and warm watter works great.

Next do a little detale and clean up your lines then were done

Thanks for looking and  mtfbwy

Is there a tool for extremely fine lines? Like the lines on the Reapers.

Awesome. I'll probably go out and buy one then.
So if I have a pattern such as this...

...and I wanted to take the right part of it and transfer it on to my saber, how would I do that? I'm terrible at freehanding.

I saw your earlier post on this.
I would sudjest I similar designe that's less complex. Then if you have a laser printer you could print it on some thin plastic sheets, and with a piece of papper above it iron it on the surface. Like you would for a printed circut board. Afterword go a head and start engraving using the fine tip first.
