I am still working on my Dark Initiate v3 customization, and I am at a point where I want to start gluein' some fancy on it...

Which glue do you think would be better?  I have both in hand...

OPTION ONE
Liquid Nails Perfect Glue:  (per the packaging)
  • For most household projects or repairs
  • Clear
  • High strength & flexible
  • Weather resistant
  • Set time 1 hour
  • Cure time 8 hours/li]
Bonds:
  • Wood & paper
  • Fabric, leather, & upholstery
  • Glass, ceramic, & porcelain
  • Metal, stone, rubber, & so much more

I have never used Liquid Nails before, but my dad and various contractors that have worked in my house certainly have, in other Liquid Nails formulations.  It's hardcore, Yo.

OPTION TWO
E6000

Y'all surely all already know this one, and I have used it myself.  You know what it does.   Wink

As far as what I am going to be attaching to my hilt, it will be detailing pieces for the pommel, on/off switch (the basic button - I don't have a fancy one), and the blade plug.  Some doodads will be metal, some plastic, etc.  Nothing crazy.

Thoughts?

I did some research online, it wasn't super duper helpful.  Most of the conversation I found discussed otehr forms of Liquid Nails, and not the variety I purchased.  I have only use E6000 for lighter weight projects myself, and from what I could find online, it didn't seem to be heavy duty enough for what I wanted to do with this project.

So, I went with Liquid Nails.  I am very happy, thus far, that I did.

No heavy, noxious smell like E6000.  Pretty easy to work with, especially considering I was working with medium, small, and teeny-tiny little pieces.  It stayed moveable just long enough for me to get things where I wanted them.

It will have cured by tomorrow/later tonight (it's just after midnight here now), so I will be anxious to see how it all set up!

I can't wait to see what you got so far. I've had simalar thaught of adding some do-dads to the exterior of a saber to dress it up. I was concittering using a two part epoxi to accomplish this.

Thanks - I will certainly post pictures!  I didn't have time this morning to check out how everything looked thus far, as I knew I would start fiddling with it and want to take pictures...  And we were already running late.  But...  SOON.   Grin

Never thought of using liquid nail. I have some in the garage when we did our floors and other housing projects. Never even crossed my mind to use for saber mods. Thanks for the info.

I know, right?

However, there are different formulations of Liquid Nails, often times comes in the very large caulking tubes.  I bought/am using Liquid Nails Perfect Glue, which comes in a "normal craft adhesive sized tube", and was found in Home Depot by the Gorilla Glue, E6000, Krazy Glue, etc.

Ok after doing some product testing. I have found that E6000 and liquid nails ARE NOT the best products to use when bonding plastic parts to metal or metal to metal. I have found that a 5.49$ grilla glue brand two part clear drying epoxi is the best way to go.
The E6000 does nothing.
Liquid nails holds for a little bit, but any kind of impact the parts fall apart.
The epoxi( clear drying) is solid as a rock ain't nothn' gona break it apart.
