Idea for Modified Archon Staff

I have not done this yet, and I wanted to see if anyone else had in the past.

I have an Archon v2.1.  I also have a Manticore emitter that I use with it.  Because the Manticore emitter is a male, and the Archon hilt is female, without a specialized male to female converter coupler (which I don't have), putting the Manticore emitter directly on the Archon hilt, while impressive looking, makes it one of the smallest sabers in overall length.

However, I began to think that by combining two sabers built just like this, you would get a shorter than usual staff, which when used with 32" in blades, would make for less unwieldy weapon.  Especially for more diminutive duelists.  By adding 40" blades to that same set-up, you would give it back the length for the folks who prefer that, but keep the actual weapon to a manageable size.

I don't have the wherewithal to do something like this right now, but I would like to save towards making it happen. 

What do you guys think?

I think that would look great. I'm not a fan of staves because of there enormous length, but making one out of shorter single sabers would work much better IMO. The Archon is my favorite hilt and the Manticore emitter is beautiful. Add a vented flush or vented silver coupler and that would be a pretty badass staff.

What blade color/colors are you going with?

I think it would look fantastic in ANY of the colors that US offers, but as I don't have sabers in SY, or PO yet, I thought those might be interesting.  Your suggestion about the coupler is exactly what I had in mind.  I actually have a flush coupler with vents.  Currently, I use it on the Archon in place of the standard neck that it comes with, which gives it windows for the blade color to show through.

I have a black vented flush coupler to do the same thing, but I prefer to keep my Overlord emitter on it, even though it makes it short as the Manticore one does. I think SY would look awesome! But like you said, any color would look good on it.

I, personally, wouldn't like such a short staff. I'd much rather have actual room to move my hands, and not have them clustered awkwardly close.

A fair critique from someone who sounds versed in such matters.

I would submit though that by my calculations, the "hand-length" (or the area in which one could actually place their hands between the two flanged emitters) would be approximately 25 inches.  Add 2.5 inches per side for the emitter itself, and you would have a 30" staff from end to end (obviously, not including the blades).  While I am sure that would be somewhat claustrophobic for some, others might find that a more ideal length, especially if the bigger configurations were all that were standing in the way of going the way of the staff.
