I am planning on buying (if my math is correct) about 15 feet of leather cord to made a 3" long grip on my saber, however I don't know what the best way to get the leather to adhere to the anodized metal is.
Anyone know what I should buy?

A non-permanent way would be using double sided fabric tape. That's what I use so I have the option of changing the grip in the future.

I used contact cement to get a sheet of leather to stick to my Aeon v2s. Worked pretty well but I did eventually remove it. It wasn't easy.

2nd vote for double sided tape. I've used it on several projects now, works great.

I am thinking of cutting a section of bike inner tube to put over the hilt first and then wrapping leather cord around that to get the grip I require, just an idea!

I used some wood glue, but that's only because it was the only way of permanently affixing the cord to my saber. Seems to work pretty well though.

Go with the tape. Lay three strips -each one as long as your grip will be- vertically with the hilt, put one end of the cord on the tape, vertically, the full length of the tape strip, then wrap the cord around the hilt, and it will have a nice ridge that offer a good ergonomic feel. I did the same thing on a walking stick with glue.

You could try to soak the leather in water before you wrap it. When it dries up it will (probably, if the leather isn't treated with a lot of stuff) shrink a bit, thus sticking hard o the hilt. Just cut it off if you'd like to remove it later. I can't guarantee that it works, depends on the leather itself. I'm gonna try this myself later. What ever way you choose, good luck!

Hi. Why would you need 15 feet of cord to make a 3 inch corded grip? Unless the cord is very thin and narrow, this length seems excessive. Perhaps not understanding you correctly. You might consider making the grip the width of your hand's palm plus an extra half inch or more on either side of your palm for comfort. I can't comment on how to apply it but there is lots of customization info available on this site. Double sided tape seems to be a favorite choice. I like to use tennis grip wrap. You didn't say what hilt you were putting it on or if this wrap was for decoration. Good luck and don't forget the photos of your creation.

I don't know how it would work on the anodized finish, but I use superglue to attach leather cord to the plain aluminum. Unlike other glues I've tried, the superglue keeps the cord from coming loose no matter how much use the saber gets... it works really well for keeping the leather attached to itself and immobilized. And if you want to take the leather off, the superglue residue comes off the plain aluminum very easily. I can just scrape it off with my fingernail, since the aluminum isn't porous and doesn't absorb any of the glue.
Again, though, it might be a problem with the anodized finish.

I did a leather cord wrap on an aeon. I didn't use any adhesive or anything. It all comes down to how you wrap it. Only has one small knot on it too. If that's a style you'd be interested in let me know and I can upload pictures on how to do it.
