i recently decided to jump head first into cosplay and set up a mon calamari jedi. turned out greater than expected. i ordered a handcrafted mask from an artist in utah and it made everthing work. i couldn't walk ten paces without being stopped for a series of pictures.
the only problem i had with the mask was a little bit of fogging in the eyes. i'm correcting that for the next time i wear it. in the first pic i had the basic battle saber and the extensions to make it a pike. when i got tired of carrying it around i would remove the hilt and wear it on my belt.

this is a pic one of the convention staff snapped of me

my mother is in this pic. she was the one who brought up the idea of dressing up for this convention. i then i ran with it. she kind of based some of her set up off of the jedi librarian.

just found another pic online and wanted to add it

This has to be one of my favorite costumes I've seen yet. The blue and green go great together for this character in an aquatic way. When I saw the mask the first thing that popped in my head was this character as a sith. The eyes being the red and yellow would look awesome. Very well done, you should be proud of your costume. Point your you.

Well done! It looks very realistic and not like a costume at all, except for the eyes on the mask looking weird. Major props to you for this, and a point as well  Smiley

the eyes look a bit odd because i was having a problem with them fogging up. the mask surprisingly didn't get hot to wear, but it got humid in it due to my breath.i need to clean them out a bit and seal them completely to prevent that next time i wear it. the mask. if they didn't fog up you would be able to see the green iris and pupil.

i managed to fix the eyes. replacing the fabric iris with the vinyl worked. this pic was at a local comic book store and i had already been wearing it for a few hours. i also trimmed the webbing from between the thumb and forefinger so that i could manipulate the lightsaber. it needs a bit of cleaning up though.

This looks amazing! I was a bit hesitant to click the topic because it might go badly wrong, but you've really done an awesome job! The colours and saber used really suit the Mon Calamari 'style'. Point. Cheesy

i really can't take credit for the mask and gloves, an artist by the name of Troy Larson sculpted the mold by hand then hand painted the set. he's starting a free lance creature special effects company out of his garage in utah. here's a link to his site if ya'll are interested. its under construction though
