As my signature says, I am planning on ordering my first Ultrasaber this fall. I have tried to read all the discussions on the different tips and will take that into account when I place my order. The only question I have pertains to the lighting around the tip. In the galleries and videos I have watched it seems that the tips are significantly darker than the rest of the bade. I was hoping someone could shed some light on this (pun intended) or maybe even a way to customize the tip to help the light carry thought.

Can't wait to place my order, everything I read about US makes me more eager to place my order.

In this respect, the pictures are pretty accurate. The tiP is almost completely dark, and it has a purpose. There is a small mirror in the tip to reflect light back down the blade. Removing this would allow light to pass into the tip, but th last seven inches or so of the blade will be darker than the base. I would suggest leaving the tip as it is. Not a very big deal, and won't make a difference in combat. Have a good one!

If you get supplies for the blade separate (ask if it can come unassembled or ask US if they can do this) you can drill or punch a small hole in the mirrored reflector inside the tip. This will let some light shine into the tip.

And punching that small hole won't have the negative effect of messing with the brightness of the end of the blade?

It's also a safety measure so you don't blind other people, from what I understand.

I would just go with the standard tip.  It really is there to keep the light from just extending out the blade indefinitely - essentially this is the problem with the idea of a "real life" lightsaber (assuming you're going with the "light focused through crystals" theory).  They look great in person and on film despite this seemingly annoying drawback, and there's really no good way around it that I know of.

Btw, great choice for a saber!  I've heard the Shock is very nice, and I've craved it for some time.  Also, I know for a fact that Guardian Blue is a very intense, very bright color.  Good luck!

Way to go Dan!!  I don't think it could have been shown any better than that, well maybe if you had the mid grade blade.  Liked the Captain America shield.
