Hey, everyone. I got a problem that I hope you can help me with. A friend and I were sparing pretty hard and one of my sabers took a nasty hit. The on/off switch broke clean off and went flying. Needless to say, no chance finding it. On the plus side, I have an extra switch, but have no idea what to do. How would I get the broken switch out? And how to install the new one?

Thanks, guys.

You could try using needle nose plyers and pull it out the guarded switches are press fit once removed, snip the leads, slip on heatshrink , solder the new switch leads and then press in the new switch.

Relan, do these things not have a nut on the inside that needs to be removed?

No the guarded switch is press fit and even the av switches from us are secured with a good amount of high temp hot glue and they are very difficult to remove.
But for you the guarded switch is easy just pop them out and replace.

Oh nice, that's good to know.  I was considering a modification and wondered exactly how to get that nut off of the bottom.  Was thinking I'd need some looooong needle nose pliers, haha.

Thx man.

If you can get a thin screwdriver under the bottom of the switch lip you can usually pop/pry it off.. takes a bit of patience.. I think one of Master Bluespike's youtube videos showed the process..

If not, maybe you can find a screw that is just the right size to get some purchase on the center hole of the switch? Then you'd have something good to pull on to try and pull it out.. once you get the switch to where its starting to come out, you can usually finish with just your fingers..

Yup.. it always pays to look first, but this seems to be the case.. I think the only saber of mine that had a nut on the switch was the Graflex, and that was in the switch box, which comes off and makes the nut relatively easy to get to.. unlike the rest of the Graflex Wink

I recently repaired a Monarch that had a switch broken in the manner your picture displays.  Use a good set of pliers and it will pop right out.
