So I've ordered my newest saber, the Dark Apprentice w/Emerald and picked up some aluminum piping today thats just slightly wider than the Apprentice hilt. So far I've cut down the piping to the approximate size I want, and once the blade arrives, I'm gonna do the finishing cuts and tooling so it fits seamlessly. On the aluminum, I'm going to be doing some acid etching with the pic included, then go back over with some dark copper car paint to give it a darker design. Gonna finish up with some aluminum black to weather the added piping.  |

So got the saber today (And met whom I can only assume was Ultra). Tried to do some test etching on throw away aluminum using ferric chloride, then caustic soda. Neither are producing the depth I want, so I'm gonna test saltwater etching tomorrow instead.

It feels pretty good. I used low grit sanding paper to give it a rough edge and the raised sith emblem gives a good grip. The emblem and the sith language im adding will be done in metallic red.  Also, here's the front so far |
