Curved Azure Shoto

This is a work in progress……. I wasn’t going to show it yet, but I just got excited and thought I’d share the journey….. 

I was very lucky in the first Winter Raffle 2015 and won a prototype Curved Azure Reaper that uses the curved section from the Mantis...






After watching a few review videos of dismantling all the components of various hilts, I did the same for this beast, lol, and while holding the main body thought this could make a fun shoto…. So after changing out the LED to SY and a little bit of MHS love that arrived last week, this is where it’s at so far…















And for a comparison pic, here it is with a Dominix LE v4 in SRD and Initiate v4 in EG with Arbiter pommel…







This is sooo fun….. Not sure I’d duel with it, but I’m sure it will be on my belt as a 2nd saber for my Jedi costume I’ll be wearing to Ep VII Premier, it’s black and dark blue mainly so this will fit right in….. I've got a few more ideas to work on for this hilt, and I have an idea what I'd name it too.....

I’d love US to do a smaller curved hilt, maybe using this curved part from the Mantis line….

This is a Beautiful job!, i found my mantis quite larger and bulkier than i anticipated, and would love to do something similar

I've got some laser engraving in mind and a small amount of wrapping..... I've never named one of my sabers before, but after seeing this in SY the name POWERSLAVE came to me, An Iron Maiden album from the 80's... (Nox inspired me with her Bellicose "Massive Attack")....

I'd like to get the Derek Riggs symbol engraved below the switch (the artist who did most of Iron Maidens album covers etc), POWERSLAVE in Aurebesh engraved on the underside, and some mummification type wrap also..... I'll see how I go

Well that all sounds pretty awesome, you'll have to post more pictures as you continue with it.
Speaking of naming sabers, I still need to name mine.

I've looked and looked but can't find any pics of what the Mantis looks like without the lower sleeve, I'm assuming its removable....Any chance you could post some pics?

Very nice. I want a curved Reaper even more now Wonder if they will be out soon. I know what I want next. Mine will be the Dark Reaper though in Blazing Red but different pommel. This is the type of curved hilt I've been wanting for. The Mantis is just too large for me. And this Reaper actually looks pretty good without the shroud grip area. Can you show how to take that off by the way when you get the chance to?

The lower shroud area, I believe, can not be taken off easily...Someone on here attempted this and came to the realization that in order for it to come off, per say, you would have to cut the speaker wires.  I have a Mantis CE and I kinda like the lower assemble on it but utilizing the curve switch area on the reaper is pretty creative

Zren, on this reaper the shroud grip slides over the body and is held in place by the emitter..... I'll see if I can put up a pic some time..... For me, I don't really like that part...

The lower body part on this reaper also can't be removed without cutting the wires, the battery pack / soundboard is bigger than the top opening..... From the pics I've seen of the Mantis it looks like there is a shroud (sleeve) over the main body underneath, I'd really like to see what the Mantis looks  like underneath.... Can the lower shroud be removed? (just the shroud, not the body section)....
