Hey All,
I have to give credit for the actual idea to Darth Logos - he posted it in the Suggestion Box Thread:
Speaking of Scorp colors. I would love to have a classic black one with a Crimson underlay. That would look sweet.
After I said I was going to do it myself, the Dark Masked One replied with this:
You must have mad skills, or are just plain mad.
Well, here's your answer!
I'll let you all decide which one it is; mad skills or mad? (Or perhaps - both.

)
Here are the starting points from both sabers . . .
Scorpion - Guardian Blue
- Blue Illuminated AV Switch
- Obsidian Sound (No FOC)
Crimson Scorpion - Red & Green 2-Channel Emerald Driver
- Non-Illuminated AV Switch
- Obsidian Sound
Here's what I ended up with!
Black Scorpion w/ Crimson Insert:

You've probably noticed the pommel by now; I never really liked the look of it the way it comes - that spiked ball look.
I prefer something with a lower profile, so I took the top half of it off & flipped the spikes so they now come up over the body:

Love the way that looks!
Finally here it is lit up. I installed a Red LED and added an Illuminated Red AV switch.
Crimson Scorpion w/ Black Insert:
Here - I was going for more of a Jedi theme. Didn't install the Blade or Spikes (I have since put the spikes back on since taking the picture) and used a Blue LED with a Blue AV Switch.
I think the Blue actually gives it perfect contrast to the Red hilt, whereas the Red Blade just kind of flowed into the body.
The Black underlay doesn't have quite the same visual impact here like the other switch out did.

In order to make all this easier - I devised a simple color-coded connector scheme so I could easily & quickly change out both LEDs and Illuminated Switches whenever I feel like it. Note these are not yet wired for FOC; just single color units.
Bonus Picture If you remove the Scorpion Emitter - it actually can be used as a bit of an odd "Display Pommel", allowing you to stand your saber up, blade & all. Pic is just the Hilt, but I tested it with a Heavy Grade blade and it stands upright just fine.
