switch bigger

so i recently got a 9/16 anti vandal switch. it does not fit into the switch hole in the hilt because it is 7/16. i understand i have to make the hole just a little bigger. can any one recommend a good tool to use and how much bigger the hole should be? i just want to be very careful while doing this

I use a dremel attachment that works really well. I forget the name of it, but it's sort of like a drill bit. It just carves the holes a little bigger.

I use a Step Bit.  Like this:

The one in the middle will do.  Go to the 5/8" step and you're all set.
