PO and FO...Thoughts?

Literally this evening, for the first time my mind opened up to owning an orange lightsaber.  Freedom!  I do like orange but never thought of getting a saber with this as the sole LED.  Personally I view orange as a Sith color and would configure it as such.  
I will say that my collection is WAY short of dedicated dark side lightsabers, like none.  This bothers me , so my next US(yes that's right!  Thank you my amazing wife!) will be in BR.
But I want to be open to more than BR for a dark side hilt.


So my question is:  

Which orange is closest in relation to BR in you're opinion?  I'd like something just a bit off of BR but not overly orange if that makes sense?

And, which blade type do you feel best shows off the orange of you're choice?


Yes I have an Emerald saber but I want to be prepared for how PO or FO would look like as they come, for I have no plans in purchasing another emerald.

Hi.  PO has the most red component to it and to me is more Sithy than the FO.  I think that I use a MG blade with my oranges.  It's past midnight after a hard shift so brain not functioning too well.  I'm sure others will have an opinion.  So are you going to share what saber you are getting with the red blade ?  I'm guessing a DWG.  You can really see the red within a PO flash.  So pleased that you are finally getting a new saber.  Just make sure that it is shmexy.

As DSeven said, PO definitely has more red in it than FO  and I second a midgrade blade over an ultraedge blade, ultraedge washes out reds in my experience.

Agree with D7 & Drahcir, a midgrade blade looks best for both FO & PO..... I've been the same, and never really thought of orange in a saber I'd like, but recently I gave away an Aeon v3 LE with FO and it looks amazing, really like the gold accents on the hilt with the FO blade, so much so that I'll be getting a v4 LE (not sure which hilt yet) with FO one day..... Maybe even a Shock LE, we'll see???

Are you thinking stunt or sound?..... reason is I personally would only use PO with Li-Ion and BuckPuck to keep the colour even thru the battery cycle.... FO looks great with AAA or resistor as its a single diode LED....

If you give us some ideas of which hilts you're thinking of, I'm more than happy to put a FO & PO LED in one of mine and take some pics for you to help you decide.....

Agree with Jedi's <cringe> last comment. BH is an awesome Sith color. Cuz you gotta be some kinda bad@$$ to roll with a pink-ish saber. However, I must chime in on blade type. it has been my experience that UEs do better on warmer colors, with the exception of amber. The amber LED is dim compared to the red, green, blue, or white LEDs. It doesn't look terrible in an UE, but not being a fan of the color it doesn't look much better in a midgrade either.

Haven't been able to see PO yet, but I would suspect it's R+A, which should look very cool and Sithy.

PO is not necessarily a combination of Red and Amber, although that is one possibility.  One of the forum posts for Emerald driver settings has Red 255 Green 36 as the combination for PO.  I just did a test with my RGBA Emerald Archon with the UE blade.  The PO using Red 255 Green 36 seems just slightly redder than the PO using Red 255 Amber 255.  My recommendation Hazard is to get the RGBA Emerald on whatever saber hilt you choose so that you can adjust the settings to produce the exact orange color that you want.

Yeah - I've been playing with my new RGBA a lot.  Upshot is - I'm not enthralled by any of the Oranges much other than FOC.

Like the Metal Masked Menace said a couple posts ago - the Amber tends to be dimmer and I find Orange to not radiate as much light - even in Red + Green versions.

If you want a sure thing - go for something like BR w/ BH FOC.

Somewhat related to the topic - the one thing so far making me super glad I got Amber instead of White on my 4-chan is the fantastic GOLD color I get with the following settings:

R:  255
G:  255
B:  000
A:  255

Yes - fairly extreme setting.

It seems that you guys are mostly on the same page concerning the properties of PO, and it sounds like it's the color I'd choose for an orange blade.  I would really enjoy something with that red hue built into it.  Thank you for you're much appreciated input. (Class of 2015!)  Orange + UE= popsicle stick.  Orange + midgrade= weapon of destruction, got it.

The two leading choices for my next hilt are either a Chosen One or a Menace in BR - and it'll most def have sound.  Good point about the battery setup JediXIX.  Although the Canadian dollar is hurting, I have a very itchy trigger finger!  I will be lurking around the store and shall be patiently waiting on the next raffle....

A Crimson Reaper, Sentinel V4, Raven or Crimson Scorpion are all at the top of my dark side wish list and would serve as host to a PO blade.  IF you are so bored as to find time to post pics of these respective hilts in PO - or FO for that matter, dinner and Ep VII is on me  Woot!

I understand the true value in owning an emerald saber cstoehr and I'd love a 4ch with amber!  Budget is a big concern, and I really want my sith lightsaber to be what it is.  No changes necessary.  Having emerald sabers is deeply satisfying I'll admit.

Brother, that is one "Firey Blade"!!  The amber channel truly adds a glowing attribute!  Nice tweaking.  There is a LOT to be said for the Amber channel!  Beautiful!
