I was thinking about this recently and I think I would enjoy alternating metallic buttons. Both nice buttons with a more unique look.
I do very much enjoy my alternating buttons. Not often you see that on a Graflex. I think I am going to make you earn your Mentor title before I get my next Saber - which will 100% be the the Graflex. I prefer the SE sabers myself. To me the Nickel plating doesn't look as good in person (I had a nickel plated Monarch once. Fantastic hilt, great design, sold it immediately.) Ehhhhhhhhh... First time I have ever posted a pic of it on the forum I think. I digress,I much prefer the normal silver SE versions especially on the Graflex since the activation box and the band it connects with are silver, and on the CE the difference in metal is obvious. I prefer the silver of the ring and box to match the silver of the hilt. Also Nickel plated sabers are hard to keep clean, they get finger print smudges so easily. For a better idea here is my review of my Graflex SE, I'm better at speaking than typing. I do want to point out that the Graflex is my second favorite hilt.

One of the legs broke off my coffee table, now I know what to get to replace it Thanks Prowl Agree with the metallic buttons, and for me I just love the gold....... I have both in gold on my Graflex and gold on my RGB Bellicose, very nice....... I also chose the SE for the Graflex for exact same reasons....... To me it looks so much nicer matching the hilt and activation box...... Eh. Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the Lightsaber.(I really hope someone knows where I paraphrased that from . . .) SE or CE is just one of the things I am going to spend the next 5 or so months agonizing over. Planning and plotting your Christmas presi i guess, hmmmm?...... Sith are always planning and plotting, lol...... but can a sith restrain from being naughty so Santa gives him the goods?

It's from army of darkness! But he say gun instead of lightsaber. Do i win something!? I am a fan of the evil dead series. I can't wait to see the TV series, it looks awesome! Yeah sure - a point & my everlasting respect.

Winning? Is that what you think it's about? I'm not trying to win. I'm not doing this because I want to beat someone, or because I hate someone, or because I want to blame someone. It's not because it's fun. God knows it's not because it's easy. It's not even because it works, because it hardly ever does. I do what I do because it's right! Because it's decent! And above all, it's kind! It's just that. Just kind.

Yeah the 2-tone metal effect is definitely what is holding me back from embracing the CE version. I still haven't actually seen a Nickel hilt in person but I do get the impression it's somewhat polarizing. People on here do seem to be "all in" or "all out". I think my biggest debate is to go with Tri-Blue - or a 2 channel Blue & Silver Driver. Jedi - sorta / kinda. Birthday / Christmas / etc. money through the end of the year. That's going to my next Saber. Probably during a Raffle unless there is something else too good to pass up! I Wish US did actual gift cards . . . That would be awesome!

Always interesting to see people's comments on SE versus CE. Some have commented that SE looks more screen realistic so that is what I went for on my Menace's.
Graflex is definitely on my radar of future purchases as such an iconic Saber. From what you have said about the Silver activation box and band, that would definitely make me go for the SE.
You want the disparate parts to match so that they look as if belong together. The same issue currently puts me off getting Blue or Crimson anodised Sabers, as it seems that different parts were anodised in different baths and thus slightly different shades. So far I have not had that problem on both of my anodised black Sabers.

My Crimson Reaper looks the same all the way down the hilt. The anodizing doesn't look different on the various pieces.

Cstoehr has a crimson and an azure menace, and he showed the anodizing of each hilt is off between the body and emitter/pommel. So it can happen, but I think rarely so. I think I saw a pic of a crimson reaper with slight off anodizing say a year ago. Very slight. Personally I wouldn't hesitate to buy a color anodized saber though. As I said, I think it's quite rare to happen.

It's actually very simple, how badly would it bother you if there is difference between the color of the hilt and the color of the activation box ring? If it would bother you a lot, buy the SE. Here's a picture of my Graflex CE. The difference between the nickel hilt and the non-nickel activation ring doesn't bother me at all. To me if all the colors were actually the same, it would be boring and less attractive. I like the contrast. Like you Jedi XIX, I have two gold buttons on it. For this saber, I think the gold buttons just look better than any other color.

But then there are others I do think the contrast may be nice. The biggest decision really is lighting, but I have plenty of time to research all that . . .

You're quite right. I keep that one in another room where I don't see it as often, and I'd forgotten it appears to have an anodized nickel hilt with a more silver or chrome colored activation box sleeve.

I'm the opposite of cstoehr on this one. I like the silver parts on my Graflex to match, even if the CE and SE price was the same I would have went with the SE. That and I'm not too keen on the nickel plating in the first place. Each unto their own though, get the one that you end up liking best. Here's another pic of my SE version.

Yep.... Each to their own While we're sharing photos, I'll just leave this nice trio here You know, the only thing I'd change on my Graflex is a non-illuminated av... I now think that'd be more my thing
