As someone fairly new to the site, I have been spending some time reading various posts. I came across this one, but as it hadn't been commented on since 2012, I thought I would start a new thread about the same topic.
What is it about Sith/dark side of the force that you find so appealing?
Personally, my view is a hero is only as interesting as their villain. And Sith are great villains. Far less rules and I like that, from their perspective, they are not evil. They are just doing what they think is right. In cosplay terms, you have a hell of a lot more creative freedom when making a costume too.
I am looking forward to reading all the responses

4 reasons:
1) Although I am not particularly power hungry, I do seek to know all I can, and knowledge is power.
2) There can be no light, without a darkness for it to shine upon. I have sympathized with the Sith since Ep.I. Just as they don't think like everyone else, so too don't I.
3) Sith (at least some) have had significant others. When passion drives you, it is bound to result into being passionate about someone. And although attachment can be a liability, it's so worth it.
4) Sith have cooler toys.

You pretty much nailed it on the spot. Those are pretty much the same reasons i like the dark side as well. The only thing i wouldn't let the dark side do to me, is let it consume me or make me crazy for power

I have no idea...it's boring to be evil...it's boring to be good...it's boring to adhere to stricture.
I think it's sick when jokes are made about killing Jedi and find issue with the role of Jedi Shadows within the order; hunting down and exterminating instances of the dark side.
As pure fantasy, to want to RP a Sith is all well and good, but to want to align yourself with the principles and ideals of the Sith IRL is extremely unhealthy.
No longer do I have the energy to care about the differences and hypocrisy between the Jedi or Sith in any meaningful way.
Please forgive my obvious cynicism...maybe it just the recent events in the news.

I'm not good. I'm not evil. I just am. I align with the Sith because they don't color within the lines. If a job needs done, you don't take polls, you don't get notarized papers making it legal. you just do it. Assholes need killin'? Kill 'em. Screw those liberal hippies squawking about human rights. Jerks waived their rights to be classified as human when they decided to attack decent society.

Let's keep the politics out of this. But regarding the Sith vs. the Jedi? Bah, neither get it right. Dark and Light cannot exist without each other. Both are necessary for balance. I prefer the original Code myself before both sides started screwing around with it. Emotion, yet peace. Ignorance, yet knowledge. Passion, yet serenity. Chaos, yet harmony. Death, yet the Force. That's balance. I'm Grey all the way.

I like Red blades. I joke on here about being a Sith, but in "real life" I would be a Jedi - if there was such a thing. But somebody has to be the Bad Guy and it can be fun to joke about it on here.

Winning? Is that what you think it's about? I'm not trying to win. I'm not doing this because I want to beat someone, or because I hate someone, or because I want to blame someone. It's not because it's fun. God knows it's not because it's easy. It's not even because it works, because it hardly ever does. I do what I do because it's right! Because it's decent! And above all, it's kind! It's just that. Just kind.

1) cookies
2) bacon
3) We stole this one guy's pizza
4) I'm an 'ends justify the means' person, which tends to be looked upon as being more Sith.
5) Messing with (in a fun manner) the jedi on here is fun.
6) There is no reason 6.
7) really, if you were to classify my real world outlook as either jedi or Sith, it would fall as Sith. I suppose, real world, that's it's Sith in thought, just not (yet) in deed.
It may just be me, but I always assocaite grey jedi with indecision. It's like they cannot make up their mind which way to go. And, you'll notice that there are no Grey Sith. Because we know which side of the bread the bacon is on.
Also, big Sith hugs for Logos and Kham. It's why we have lightsabers to go out and wack trees/friends/rocks/random strangers/shrubberies/coconuts/rabbits with. And it's why we come here to hang out with people who share a common love and interests, regardless of what color our light saber is (although Red is always better).

You only live once. Wrong. You only die once. You live every moment of your life. The question is, are you alive, and living your life? Or just here, and watching your life go by? ------------------------------------------------------------------ I am the bone of my sword Steel is my body and fire is my blood I have created over a thousand blades Unknown to death Nor known to life Have withstood pain to create many weapons Yet those hands will never hold anything So, as I pray, Unlimited Blade Works.

Why are the Sith so appealing? There are several reasons, one is that they do what they want when they want and the do it for themselves. They don’t care about others, or others feelings. There is a great deal of joy in only having to think about yourself. Secondly there is the unconformable aspect that sometimes it everything works out in the end, no one really cares about the small details, (the sacrifices/compromises that had to be made.) Also it’s easy to identify with passion, everyone can identify with want, not everyone can identify with a monistic type of life. As for the grey they are the grape in the middle of the road, not a very good position to be in, but sometimes you have to make a decision knowing the results may come in against you.

I like Red blades. I like Red Blades, and I cannot lie. You other Sith can't deny. When girl walks in, with an itty bitty waist And that red thing in yo' face, You get a "thrummm". And, you'll notice that there are no Grey Sith.
I've actually labeled myself a Grey Sith before. A deep Charcoal grey, but grey none the less. I actually have a line of confession in my book. Logos, at the end says, "The Jedi have one thing right. There is no death, there is the Force."

I think Grey can be anything. I say "Grey Jedi" because I'm a lighter shade of Grey most times, but that can fluctuate. The cycle of Yin and Yang is always shifting.
