The Anakin lightsaber and the original Luke lightsaber from ANH are in separate categories. Technically they're the same lightsaber, from the standpoint of the storyline.

Yeah they are, there are just some cosmetic changes. Check out the activation box for example, the clamp on it is different. Its minor stuff, just like how there are minor differences between the Luke ANH and Luke ESB - technically these are the same saber too.

Nero is correct. If you look at the two together, you'll see a lot of differences. The box switches sides, the clamp style changes, the button changes, the emitter changes, the rabbit ears change, the belt clip... and then from ANH to Empire it changes again with modifications to the grips and button. Storyline wise, they are the same. Prop wise, they have notable differences.

Yeah, even Obi-Wan's ROTS/ANH saber suffered from the same thing, despite the fact that they were in fact the same saber. I think the story line for both was the changes were a result of Obi-Wan's maintenance, and general tinkering.

Well I recently bought an Anakin lightsaber by Hasbro which I soon plan to have converted by Ultrasabers. Instead of getting a Luke ANH lightsaber I am simply going to stick with the Anakin lightsaber and call it the Anakin/Luke lightsaber.

Sounds like a plan. Honestly, most people won't know the difference.

Yeah. As far as 99% of people are concerned, it's the same. Most don't notice the changes unless they are side by side, and I'm honestly only up on them because the Luke ANH is my favorite movie saber. If you'd asked about the differences between the RotS and ANH Kenobi.... I'd only have known the clip. LOL

Nice man, mine too (as many of you know lol). That opens up a new can of worms though, cause you have the hero version, the v2 version, etc. Inconsistency in props gives us so many options for movie saber builds!

If you can't find it at Ultrasabers you can always look on ebay.

That's a good point. Ebay is a good source for getting FX Sabers, especially older ones not in production, at pretty cheap prices. You can get one and send it into Ultrasabers for a conversion if you like, get it battle ready! Or you can just buy one of the UltraFX sabers. One option, if you want one of the FX sabers with Obsidian sound, is to wait for the CSO. It's unknown when it will open officially, but I can tell you that having Obsidian sound in an FX hilt is pretty cool - my custom Luke ROTJ is easily my favorite saber.

Yes, from what I know, although the hero version was used in the majority of the scenes in ROTJ and it certainly was the one used in all the fight scenes (it was the only one that was made so a blade could be attached) in some scenes they used a resin lightsaber because they didn't want to damage the hero version and they sometimes even used an old Obi Wan Kenobi stunt saber! Now they sell a copy of the Kenobi stunt saber for collectors. For me though, I consider the hero version the true and official version of the Luke ROTJ lightsaber.

For the ones you can't get at Ultrasabers, one recommedation for ebay, your cheapest prices will probably come from a bigger dealer. Try ToysRus, most will probably have the Darth Vader, Anakin Skywalker, and probably the Kit Fisto (soon). The ToysRus here has them for 99.00. Another good one is ThinkGeek for a wide selection of FX sabers.

Yeah I'm a fan of the hero hilt. Master Caine I know is a BIG fan of the v2 hilt, though I can't blame him - its an awesome looking saber and I DEFINITELY need to get my own version of it sometime. I believe from what I've read the v2 is actually used in a large chunk of the fight scenes, especially the Sail Barge scene in the beginning. I could be wrong though, I've accumulated my geek knowledge from a wide variety of sources
