Gosh, how frustrating to hear!  Hope this gets cleared up quickly.  I tend to have faith in humanity, so while it might take a day or two, hopefully you'll get it soon.

Of course, it could be funny if it were delivered to (say) a bank or an accountant's office.

Obviously the Dark Side possibility is someone took the package on a presumption of higher value than it had.  But hopefully it was a mere mixup and you'll hear more as FedEx traces the package.

Also, as I edited into an earlier post, do get the trace number from FedEx if you can.  That's your case number from the trace agent who is working with you.  That way if worst case scenario, US needs to initiate a shipping claim, you may be able to give them the number of an existing trace instead of them having to go through a whole runaround of initiating a new one.

Oh...and it's a good thing you went Express.  My impression is that Express runs a tighter ship than any other parcel service.  I hope that means they'll have a quicker answer to you.

I'll make sure I get that number from them tomorrow, thanks for the advice! I am hoping the dark side isn't the outcome in this case .. but if someone has taken it they've definitely got a decent saber out of it!

Good for you for remaining calm, I would have had major anxiety about where my saber was, and who was wielding it without my permission. The only way I found out was the store that got it called me before Fed Ex realized how they dropped the ball.

Btw, no reimbursement or compensation was offered for having to drive down there to get it myself. Oh well. Good Luck.

THE PLOT THICKENS!

So.....

Received a phone call from FedEx, the driver said he delivered the package to a shop down the road. So i'm thinking BRILLIANT!

I pop to that shop, and the package has ALREADY been collected.

Here is where it gets ridiculous.

I live in a flat that's above a restaurant, owned by my local council. They are the "Crime Reduction Initiative" department, opening a Recovery Cafe soon below.
One of the council workers, collected my package, with my name on it. They then opened my package (Next door confirmed they knew it was a lightsaber)

Rude, right?

Nobody has left a note for me, or contacted me to notify me they have it.

So i've now contacted the CRI department, who are investigating as to who has taken it. As they have keys to enter the cafe, but under no instruction to receive or collect any deliveries regardless. Especially one in my name!

I'm waiting on a call back from them to find out who has taken it!

The annoying thing is that the cafe below is not yet open, and they only visit it randomly, perhaps once or twice a month that i've noticed. So fingers are now crossed that they can find whoever has it and get them to give it to me.

It's incredibly ironic that 1) It's a council worker, and 2) It's the "Crime Reduction Initiative" that have OPENED my parcel with my name on it. Pretty sure that's illegal.

Bahaha. Oh the pain of it. FedEx, why could you not have just called me and delivered it correctly!

Here's hoping this ridiculous cat and mouse search ends well.

Further update!

Received a phone call from some random woman from CRI. She apologised frickin loads for taking my parcel and even more for opening it. Just, wow.

She told me she would deliver it to me today...

ETA 1 hour until arrival. (Hopefully!)

Well that's great that she's returning it! That's an awesome outcome, even though it was opened. But in hindsight, I'd rather get an expensive package that was opened rather than never knowing what random had signed for my package and never returned it. Did the lady say why she opened it?

The lady said she was expecting a delivery and took it and opened it without reading the label.. A whole annoying ordeal to go through which could of ultimately been avoided by FedEx actually checking who they are delivering too/notifying me properly.

Nonetheless, it's over now! I have a new saber to go play with... ehehe
