I've been reading comics since 1984 (still have my secret wars mini-series from back then). Am a big fan of the following:
Batman
Chew
The Boys
Fables
-and sporadically dip my toes in with-
Green Lantern
Spiderman
Justice League
Superman
Away from those I usually get TPB as it's easier for me to get thm that way. My collection is quite varied with the titles I have. I have stuff from Vertigo, Image, DC, Marvel, Dark Horse. I am very proud of my Amazing Spiderman issue 300 (first appearance of Venom) that I have signed by Stan Lee. Got a few other titles signed by artists/creators like Brian Bolland, Simon Bisley, George Perez, Mark Millar, David Lloyd, Bernie Wrightson and Neil Gaiman.
I've collecting comics for so long i was running out of space to store everything so i built two wooden cabinets out of reclaimed wood/unused pallets.

We're going to have to agree to disagree on the "ions worth reading" thing  I do suggest picking up a few comics from the New 52 relaunch, I'm sure you'd be very much surprised. I've been reading comics since 1984 (still have my secret wars mini-series from back then). Am a big fan of the following:

I did like the Court of Owls batman storyline. And I know there are some good new 52 storylines, but it's a case of finding the time to go buy them, hence me waiting for the TPBs (I prefer going to a comic shop than buying them online. support local businesses) Green Lantern is good, but I don't like him as much as other Characters. Kyle Reyner was a great GL.
Superman is so good!!
Justice League is pretty decent too.
I think it's because of my age. I grew up with Hal Jordan as Green Lantern and Barry Allen as The Flash. Although, i LOVE the Green Lantern Corps. Awesome storylines. |

been an avid reader since... uhm... forever.
I have almost all of the original Marvel GI Joe and Star Wars Comics, lots of X-Men, lots of Spiderman (various titles) Captain America, IronMan... pretty much was willing to give everyone a shot.
Never liked Rob Liefield's art style though...

Don't get me wrong, i love me some marvel. I just found it easier to mention what i'm currentk rewding rather than listing all the titles in my collection. If i did that we'd be here for hours! Lol |

Speaking of Marvel I did start one today that I really liked, and am looking forward to the rest. Old Man Logan. It's about the Logan from the Dystopian future feature in the Original Old Man Logan run in present day (well 2015) and he is out for revenge against people who will wrong him...which includes Hulk. and it gave us this awesomeness....  |

The problem with marvel is that nothing new is jumping out at me as if to say "this is amazing" I do like Thor as a female though! However; I think the Marvel Fandom mainly consist of the movie fans at the current moment in time. Most people only like Marvel because they've released some amazing movies. If you ask a movie fan to try and describe a Marvel Comic book, they'll just describe a film. It's funny when they try and describe Iron Man 3.... Iron Man 3 was the worst Comic Book adaptation to of ever existed. It had two amazing story lines it could of explored more of, but it didn't and that annoyed me. They had the Mandarin. He himself could of been a trilogy. Then they had Extremis. That could of been a standalone film and could of been explained and used SO much better. I hate Iron-Man three because it wasted two incredible story arcs to make one awful one. |

Honestly, since the age of the MCU began, I really haven't picked up too many comics.
I'll read them at the bookstores and what not, but you're right, most seem to be following the films or the fanbase the films created... Though I will admit, Deadpool actually looks like a proper Deadpool comic so far.

Trades are pretty easy to order from the comic book store. i know you can buy them online too, but support local business. and you can get great knowledge about upcoming titles by chatting with the people who work there. |

yeah i really want to collect all the Alien, predator, and Alien versus predator comics the most! there all dark horse i do believe. also would like to collect some some batman comics but not sure where to start with that LOL. and i like to get anything Punisher, venom, spawn, Deadpool, elektra, or x-men related. yeah i know thats a long list LOL |
