Paint WIP

Just doing a simple paint job for now, potentially might add a leather wrap around the switch at a later date

Its a little rough around the edges right now, still need to clean up the edges and the top ring, i just wasn't happy with at all so i re-sanded and re-primed it. Plan on doing the second coat tomorrow and then MAYBE a third coat before adding a gloss coat to it.

Day 2:

Ok so wasn't happy with how the most of the rings came out, so ended up quite literally redoing almost all them save for the  the 2 rings above and below the power switch plus the top one I redid the night before.

if there is a tip I can give its to be patient and have a steady hand. Most of the mistakes I made on the first run were cause I was probably a tad bit too excited.

Gloss coat will go on tomorrow and the 2nd coat of the redone rings will be done later tonight.

It's easy to get excited while working on your saber(s). I can attest to that.

These sabers look great "Off The Shelf" but when the community starts adding their own style to them, it really sets some of them off. Point to you for customizing your saber. Look forward to seeing how it turns out.

Well the gloss coat is done, tho didn't come out that glossy, but it is there and doing its job as a top coat. So no real noticeable difference between the 2nd and this 3rd pic aside from it being on a stand now. Also kinda cannibalized my Asajj Ventress stand since I currently don't have a second stand, hence the slant since. Probably wouldn't stay on it as well if it wasn't for the covertec placement (yay in hindsight?)

Ultimately feel like I can do more with this saber, just a matter of what at this point. I was thinking about maybe a leather wrap around the switch or possibly getting it engraved. Right now however, I am happy with how it came out even if its a little rough around the edges and it was rather fun doing it, even with the set backs. It really feels like its "my" saber now.

Nicely done!  I also painted the rings in Aeon V4 (look for the "reverse LE thread") and it is hard to get them to come out just right.  I had to be very careful and also found that it pays to be generous with the paint and just lay it in the groove.  :-)

Here are some ideas for you since you have a v3 model....check out Sedsti Skyfaller Designs....they have a 3-D shop page with all kinds of goodies for your saber...everything from button covers to emitters that I believe will fit the top of your saber..changing the profile of it a bit....don't take my word...go and check it out...options are ALWAYS a good thing my friend!

Whats funny is the black/gold didnt even dawn on me until somehow ending up at a video of the Zeo Gold Ranger on youtube, i just looked at my dominix for a moment and just immediately thought thats the color it needs to be in.

Might even consider etching the Gold Ranger emblem somewhere on the bottom of the saber since its where i got the inspiration from.

Its Nice, Good contrast and in the pictures the paint looks very good, yes slow and steady , the simplest touches, can change  the whole outcome, sometimes less is more
