Hey everyone, I'm pretty new to the whole Ultrasabers awesomeness. I recently got my first saber, a green Consular, and I LOVE it. I know a few things about soldering, so I thought it'd be a fun downtime project to try building my own saber with the Build Your Own parts. I don't have all of my parts yet, particularly the soundboard. I have looked inside my Consular and seen some of how US assembles saber electronics with heat shrink and electrical tape. Until I have all my parts, I welcome any and all tips, instructions, wiring diagrams, etc. I'll also gladly take ideas for names of this future beauty!  Grin

Here's a list of the parts I'm going to be using:

-Manticore Emitter
-Dark Shock Body
-War Glaive Pommel
-Obsidian v3 Soundboard
-2x14500 Li-Ion Battery Holder/Speaker Combo
-14500 Protected Li-Ion Battery Cells (x2)
-Guarded Momentary Switch
-Violet Amethyst MLS Unit w/ Silver FOC & Quick Disconnect
-1000 MA Wired Buckpuck

The best advise I can give you is dive right in. That's what I did, go and search every question watch youtube vids, join other forums and groups to get ideas. In the short time I have been involved I have learned TONS from all the awesome ppl in not only this community but saber enthusiasts as a whole.

The coolest part about a DIY is that if you mess up, (with the proper funding) you can replace parts or start again from scratch. Good luck!

This is my first electronics project in a while, so I have perhaps the lamest question ever posed here about lightsaber building. Lol I have the wiring diagram, but I'm not sure which side is top and which is bottom on my soundboard. I guess specifically my question is, how should I hold the soundboard so I don't wire the switch to the speaker pin and vice versa? I haven't found any videos that clearly show soldering being done.

Obsidian Page in the store has the pins labeled on the side you'll actually be working on:
