Knights of Ren movie, anyone?

J.J Abram revealed he'd like to make a Star Wars anthology film focusing on the Knights of Ren in an interview with Collider. When asked what Star Wars anthology film he'd love to see, Abrams responded "I gotta say Kathy Kennedy, who’s running it all, she seems to be pushing all the right buttons. There isn’t something that I’d love to see—I guess the one thing I would say is there’s a Knights of Ren story that I think would be pretty cool to tell.”

"The Knights of Ren" is an organization under Supreme Leader Snoke and their ranks naturally include the main antagonist of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Kylo Ren. This organization only appeared breifly in the movie and we don't know much about any of the other members besides Kylo. However, it seems that Abrams has a specific story in mind involving them.

Right now there are no indications of J.J. Abrams returning to the Star Wars franchise as a director to make such a movie. He stepped down after directing Star Wars: The Force Awakens and is being replaced by Rian Johnson for Star Wars VIII. However, he is still a producer for the upcoming Star Wars movie.

A Knights of Ren feature would likely give us more of an idea what happened between The Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, which is an intriguing prospect. It would also be a Star Wars movie that focused on villains in a way other films haven't. Of course, the prequels showed Anakin Skywalker's fall to villainy, but he was a tortured hero for 95% of those movies and only went full villian at the tail end of the third one.

Would you be intrigued by a Knights of Ren feature? Would you like to see J.J. Abrams back as a director? What other kind of anthology movies would you like to see?

JJ Abrams would love to make a Knights of Ren anthology movie. I have to say, I'm on board with this, depending on how much info we get on the Knights in VIII and IX. They may cover everything we'd want to know, but not likely. I'd love it if they did this!

I would definitely be down for this, especially if we got to learn about Kylo's history as well like we did with Anakin.

I am still convinced that they are a mix of Force-users AND non-Force users.  Which would be one heck of a dynamic to witness!

Something's gotta give us more. I'd expect a book, at the very least graphic novels. We see dark side use, but the title of Knight suggests some code and purpose. It's not just some gang name for wannabes with tats and cloaks. What's their core? I worry about anthology films drooping in quality. But, there are so many books and games over the years, they have plenty to draw from.

I guess I'll be the one to say it.  I don't really care to see it.  I like when things are left unexplained.  It's kind of like the prequels, they ruined the mystery of what happened before for me.  It's nice to leave some stuff to the imagination.

Yes, I want some mystery as well. The mystery that leaves us racking our brain for "Why doesn't Luke kill the Emperor? Why is saving his friends a journey to the dark side? Why forever will it dominate your path?" For years, we've been able to study how the dark side leads to destruction and why the Jedi impose limits like they do and even then get fooled. It presents a challenge to our thinking when some things go unanswered.

But, I want to know some history and culture, I guess. An organization called Knights of Ren. Knights are supposed to serve someone or some purpose. Who's Ren? What's the difference between them and Sith? Why should I care, fear or respect these characters?

Having come from the Star Trek fandom--albeit being more relaxed about it than some--I tend to feel like if I don't like something, it's just one universe among many possibilities.  I actually have my own headcanon about the Knights of Ren now, and if the movies end up contradicting them...well, then my stuff is an alternate universe and it will still live on in my head.

Disney has a pretty good head for business.  I can totally see them doing this.

Some flashbacks, some explanation in the next movie, heck even a book can still leave a lot to the imagination without having to make an entire film about it.

Even an anthology film wouldn't give us EVERYTHING. I would like to know just who these guys are, but I honestly don't think we'll get much in the main movies....it's only really a part of the story as far as Kylo is concerned.

I want to know all the things.  All of them.  I just think there are so many ways to play this, no matter which direction they took, it would be exciting.  I actually have no headcanons about the KoR and intend to keep it that way until I have something to go on.
