I've read so many posts in these forums about the emotional reaction and immediate connection so many of us experience when our Ultrasaber finally arrives and is unboxed for the first time.  My first Saber purchase almost 6 months ago brought what I thought was the same feeling about which I've read.

I was wrong.  I am fortunate enough to have a wife of 20 years who understands and accepts my passions and idiosyncrasies... my "nerdishness" so to speak. Today actually marks my completion of a Bachelor Degree which I have been chasing for a long time.  In celebration, my wife purchased my "dream" saber without my knowledge, and it happened to arrive today.

First I will say that the gratitude I expressed to my wife was tremendous and has not stopped, but I digress.

I opened my Ultrasaber box and with held breath, began the detailed ceremony of gently cutting through the packing tape sealing the bubble wrap with my X-acto blade.  What revealed itself brought me to my knees, and yes, I did shed a tear as I saw my Manticore for the first time.  Every aspect of this hilt spoke to me and seized my soul, and I felt the full connection to which I referred earlier hit me with excessive force.  The impact was almost physical.

To you, who have your eyes on a special Saber, those who are diligently saving to purchase that one blade that caught your eye, the fans of the movies and of Ultrasabers (who finally gave us a way to play with flashlights), and to those who continue to dream of the day you will own special blade, I say it is worth the wait, the dollars you'll spend, and the growth you'll experience during the whole process.  The payoff is worth it.

I'll sign off now, I have Saber combat class to attend this evening, and I can't wait to swing her for the first time.

May you reach your goals, and may you move ever forward toward your dreams.

Either you like Star Wars... Or you're wrong.

Awesome idea for a post, dude!  Your wife has very good taste!  The Manticore is superb!

My wife supports me the same way, and that is a gift, it really is.  I had a spark of interest which turned into a blazing torch when I saw UltraSabers at Salt Lake Comic Con last September and have been buying more, quite regularly I might add, ever since and haven't looked back.  I've been so giddy with interest and involvement in this forum to see what sabers others are buying and love the unboxing videos where I get to sense the enthusiasm.  I have a real passion for not only each and every saber I get but for UltraSabers as a company and love how they spoil us all, like the current raffle they're doing bigger than ever before.  I'm an adrenaline junky now - all that emotion and adrenaline I feel every time I get a new UltraSaber.  I've been drooling all over my new Graflex CE since I got it 2 days ago.  Can't take my eyes off it.   Cheesy

UltraSabers sure are worth saving up for, and as one person posted, it's very easy to love these sabers and few, if any, own only just one.

Thanks for sharing your story, and congratulations on finishing your degree and getting your dream saber (the Manticore is amazing, isn't it?). It's great that you have such an understanding and supportive wife.

Point.

Great story. Congrats on both your Degree & your Saber.
Most especially congrats to your wife for allowing(& lets not kid ourselves. They are in charge lol) & encouraging your passions.
Despite what my signature says mine also has been very understanding. It doesnt matter how many sabers you get(indeed 1 does inevitably lead to another), that feeling when you open the packaging & hold your first saber is magical. I was grinning like an idiot every time I saw or touched it for weeks.  Grin
