I got this idea from the DIY youtube video by 'Pitt Force Five' where you use a soldering iron to melt the saber blade to give it an unstable look like Kylo Ren's saber. It looks okay, but I think it would be more effective if I had a pulse feature on my saber. Not that it matter, but the link goes to my new youtube channel "Groovy Geek". I agree. Thought you can see the flash on clash better with the violet. Hopefully by next year I'll have emeraled and won't need the colored disc.

Actually, I saw (and tried) a method using clear silicone caulk.  You just spread it with a fork along the blade and you get that flame appearance.  Very effective.
