Could you give me some hints or techniques, or even types of paint, for painting PVC saber hilts?

Krylon Fusion is the best spray paint or auto paint works too. You can also use any plastic model paints. I also found that those little fix a scratch auto paints that are sold at AutoZone or Wal-Mart are great for touch ups and painting small areas.

Just make sure you apply a coat or two of either gloss or matte clear coat to seal that paint.
