Kind of hope my free grab bag is a Dark Initiate.  I decked out a DI early last year, and just so happened to add a Quick Release coupler to my recent order in hopes of winning a saber and being able to play around with a staff/dual weild.
Looks like I have the power to see the future via the Force!

Kind of hope my free grab bag is a Dark Initiate.  I decked out a DI early last year, and just so happened to add a Quick Release coupler to my recent order in hopes of winning a saber and being able to play around with a staff/dual weild.
Looks like I have the power to see the future via the Force!

Ooooo! that wold be awesome! Initiates work great for staff work. The main Sith at my Saber Guild Temple uses two Dark Initiates with a Quick release for his main saber (he specializes in staff, but dabbles in dual wielding as well).

I'm dying from anticipation lol. My order was placed for 3 mystery boxes (raffle entry) on the 8th, and I won a grab bag in the raffle so now that the anticipation for the raffle is over I'm dying to know what hilts I'll get. I only have an Aeon so far, so I'd be happy with pretty much anything. Want to do some customization, but don't want to risk destroying an expensive model while I learn, so the grab bag is the perfect prize for me. ^^

A not so long time ago in a home closer than the nearest star...A New Saber

I somehow stumbled across an unboxing video for Ultrasabers Mystery Boxes in my always desperate and usually futile search for the perfect gift for my husband.  "AHA!!"  I thought.  "A lightsaber!  And bonus, I don't have to worry about picking one he hates, since it is a mystery box, woot!"

As a proud, long standing branch of the Geek Family Tree, our little family drives cars with vanity plates from Firefly, tops our Christmas tree with Weeping Angels, and got married on an honest to goodness Pirate Ship, complete with rowdy crew of mateys.  How was it possible we had no lightsabers?!  "I must remedy this at once, this very minute!" I thought.  I ordered three mystery box sabers.  I watched about a zillion minutes of videos of people unboxing their treasures.  I read a gazillion posts here, gasping at the glorious sabers folks were getting our of mystery boxes. I made my own "dream" contents on the site, adding sabers to my "cart" like a shopping spree winner.  I read up, I researched, I reviewed.  (Probably should have done that BEFORE I spent all of my gift budget, but hey, I would have hated for the boxes to sell out - she whispers to herself as she attempts to justify what is a drastically uncharacteristic impulse purchase)

I had pretty low expectations. After my hours of time spent browsing pics and videos, I knew I would get beautifully made sabers worth at least what I paid. Having zero sabers, I would be thrilled with any hilts, any colors, any configurations.  I saw a lot of the apprentice/initiate hilts coming from bags, which made me happy because those would be best for my daughter.  I saw quite a few sound sabers pulled in videos, but having no idea how many of the stunt sabers were opened and not shared, I put that result into the "May the odds be ever in your favor" category.  I would be over the moon, but I expected three stunt initiate/apprentice level sabers. 

My lightsaber daydreams consisted mostly of: smooth hilt for my tactile-fussy husband, smallish hilt for my daughter, and I would flip for purple or orange for my blade color.  When I got really crazy, I thought about the Spectre, the Omen, and the Monarch for my hilt, sometimes the Raven.  I just couldn't decide if those awesome spikes were me or not (very likely due to the fact that I even though I am a Jedi, I am so close to the dark side that Purple is the best representation of my saber color, since it has both red and blue!! And the Raven is deliciously Dark, like the best chocolate, mostly milk with just enough dark to have depth and character  )  I ordered in the beginning of December.  Which, yay for shopping being done so early, but then I had SOOOO LONG to wait before I saw what we got!  Eventually my risk taking-daydreaming side went berserk and I spent my precious costume/crafting income on three MORE mystery boxes, Oh boy...

I somehow managed to not open and peek before Christmas, which was miserably difficult for me!  I had to enlist the help of friends, in a surreal, Don't Peek, Savor the Anticipation Interventions Group, haaahaahaa.

Opening my pretties was the highlight of my Christmas this year, and as you can see, I came out the victor in the Mystery Box Games, woooohooo!  Not only did I score ALL of the elements I had hoped for, I pulled TWO of the premium sabers!!!  Oh. My. Goodness.  Even better, my husband didn't pick the Archon with Emerald Drive (I gave him first pick) because he doesn't care for the handfeel of the hilt.  Which means I get the Emerald Drive Archon, and I am delirious with happiness. I tried to do a build on my saber to estimate value, but I am not super savvy on all of the specs and details.  I think it is over $400, with it's Emerald drive with sound and rechargeable batteries.  I've got some homework to do yet; I need to figure out how to determine what kind of sound a saber is, the exact color of the LEDs, why there are two ports on the internals of the Archon, how to tell if a blade is heavy duty or normal, and other various fun little tasks =D  I did end up doing an unboxing video (my first ever!!) of the second set of three that I bought, I just haven't had the courage to edit and post it 

As of now our collection is distributed as follows: Mystic-Archon and Dominix; Hubbie-Initiate w/sound; Daughter Dear-Initiate LE with windows; Remaining Initiates-possible modbase, coupled with twin for SaberStaff, or gifts  *subject to change, has changed multiple times already, haahaaha.  I acknowledge and accept that I have fallen down the rabbit hole, and am very likely to acquire additional sabers up to and past the point of all reason.  I am cool with that.  At least I know I am in good company!!
