Lightsaber blade length

Quick question:  Is there a standard size that traditional Star Wars lightsabers adhered to?

(I'm trying to decide whether to attempt making a saber 4 feet or 3 feet.  Four feet would probably make for better combat, but if canon strongly dictates that it is three feet, I would probably go with that, since my friend who I'm giving the saber to as a Christmas present might care about such details.)

The lightsaber is a unique weapon fashioned and designed by the individual.  As far as I and wookieepedia are aware there are no "traditional" blade lengths.  http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lightsaber#Blade_variations  Check specifically the section on Blade Variations.

Hmm, thanks... it appears that my choices are one meter, shorter than one meter, and three meters... and another article says that the standard saber was 1.3 meters (although this may have been for different time periods).

A meter is about 3.3 feet, and my choices for the wire length are in between 3 and 7 feet (I'm pretty sure only integers are allowed).  I suppose I could go with a four foot wire, about 1.2 meters, and be reasonably close...

The below may be of interest for you to review in determining the length of the blade.  My guesstimate is somewhere around 4 feet, which is approximately the length of most US sabers that includes the blade and hilt.

I'm no expert but I seem to recall that a cutaway drawing of Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber  labels the big knob near the emitter as a "Blade Length Adjust". That would mean that the length is variable to some degree. Although I don't know if it is canon since its in the visual dictionary not the movie.
