weird idea question

what would happen if I used color discs with the Blazing Red LED in my Dominix v2  LE? Anyone try this combo?

This doesn't work.  Red is a single bandwidth of color.  The way color disks work is by blocking colors, not adding them.  If all you start with is red, a monochromatic base color, all you'll do by adding a color disk is block red, which will darken the color but not really do anything to change it. 

Filters work best with white light for that reason, and they work best to get other "wide band" or mixed colors.  Like yellow, for example.  "Pure" colors like blue, red or green are harder because you're screening out more of the light to get to the color.  At the same time, you can get a very nice orange or even red from a yellow because red is already there, but you can't get yellow or purple from red because there is no green or blue present to start with.
