Hi Dutch, glad you liked this retro look back on some old Astro themed hilts. They (Astromechs) have so much character about them any saber I model on one is usually easy to identify.....however.... Hi Dutch, sorry I'm late responding but I might have been a bit busy on ahem....other projects  Glad you like Marvin. A friend of mine who blogs on the same network as me asked me if I could build him a replica he could use to create his own caption images for his site. He too is a big Hitch-Hiker's fan. Another reason was that Warwick Davis was the on set actor in the suit whilst the fabulous Alan "I'll get you Maclane!" Rickman provided the voice so this is a tribute to them too. Anyhoo, I think I know why Marvin was always depressed....he applied to Stormtrooper School.....but.....  I might make a few images of my own...hm...mebee..... Thanks again and a point inbound to you. |

Ok, at this point in time, you can't simply box Alan Rickman into just the character of Hans Gruber. By and large, he's simply being Alan Rickman. Still want to see him in Sense and Sensibility. |

I wasn't intending to downplay Rickman's vast talent and back catalogue. I was just relying on the quotes that he was most associated with. In fact I could just hear Marvin saying "With all my previous tv appearances and film roles....all I ever get remembered for is Yippee-Ki-Yay! Why do I even bother....?"

Hello Everybody, I just have time to post one final special saber before the New Year celebrations start... but don't worry you will be seeing more of this saber in a little while... Thanks to al of you who have supported me and this topic over the past year....I hope to continue creating and sharing in 2025! The Sentinel (and all of its variants) is one of my absolute favorites: truly an excellent example of simplicity of design that is anything BUT simple, not to mention one of the most comfortable saber hilts that I've ever held. In other words: FT has phenomenal good taste in lightsabers  Your rendering here is flawless: each subtle transition in the chokepoints to the ergonomic grip to (IMHO) one of the best looking emitters for a lightsaber...and you've captured it BRILLIANTLY! I can FEEL the saber hilt in my hand  And one of the reasons that the Sentinel is such a classic: variation. For myself: I love the Sentinel v4 LE with emitter windows, blue/silver AV switch, and Renegade/small pommel as well as its Dark Sentinel mirror (emitter windows, green/black AV switch, Dark Renegade/small pommel). Hmm... I think that, one of these days, when FT isn't busy with his own incredible designs, I'll have to hire him for some more of his outstanding saber renderings featuring those two On a more serious note: a special "Thank You" to FT for ALL of his selfless, tireless work when it comes to helping me out on the visual front for my stories. From recoloring, blocking, and even completely original renderings, FT has always gone above and beyond to help me (and another fellow author ) with visual accompaniment, never once asking for anything in return and always selflessly giving of his talents without complaints no matter the time constraints. I am obliged and honored to call him my true friend here! And here's to FT's designs in 2025! I can't wait to see what he's got in store for us! |

Hi MavRick, yes totally agree with you and your Sentinel is the same as the one I first considered buying years ago, except I was gonna get it in CG and possibly with the old Obsidian 8 font premium sound. The V5 windows I called "Cathedral Windows" as soon as I saw the first pictures US released of them. I think you can "soften" the edges a little with an emery board. Plus you do have the option of flipping the inserts for a different look now and then. Thanks for sharing your gorgeous arsenal and I'll PM you something you might like. point incoming. |
