Hi all - I've got a war glaive in guardian blue that's crying out for some more customisation but I don't know what to do with it!

My other two sabers were customised almost immediately, from the windscreen wiper grips on my liberator, to the filters in the accent holes of my prophecy - both simple but rather effective. But my 1st saber just hasn't had much love, it sits there looking at me balefully and I feel guilty. I've improved things somewhat - see the list below, but it still looks rather unfinished somehow.

I'll upload photos as soon as I find my camera cable btw (i know it's around somewhere...)

So far I've added a bearing from the engine of an old Triumph bike to the pommel to balance the saber out - it has an ultra edge heavy grade in for dueling, which brought the centre of balance forward from the choke point.
The bearing is a mix of brass coloured metal and well worn steel.

I've also added a decal of the symbol of the jedi order in a similar colour to the brass sections of the bearing, opposite the on/off switch.

Somehow though the hilt still looks rather plain - the next logical step I suppose is to fill in the grips with a complementary paint, maybe more brass or perhaps even some white.

But I want to try something a bit more interesting - so any suggestions?

Look in the gallery.  I have seen someone put female/female extension with a male/male vented coupler to make their war glaive longer and give it the appearance of a crystal chamber.

Thanks for the suggestion guys!
Got to admit though I don't really want to add more length to mine, cool though it looks (the war glaive is already a little unwieldy, and i've just about managed to move the centre of gravity to where I like it) I'm really after something cosmetic rather than actually changing the hilts whole volume.

Lets see.........

You could find an old studded leather belt, pry off the studs (which is actually kind of fun, it's destructive in a creative way.).

Anyway.

The studs having been on the belt make a snake skin/alligator skin look.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm.

Any leather stripping from jo anns, michaels or your local craft store.

OOh ALSO, rule of thumb!

Use super glue or crazy glue on your wraps or customizations; AT least atheistic's wise. It can be easily removed from the hilt with a simple oil like chap stick.

That way you can glue the piece down and not have top hold the piece in place.

Hey Kham-Ryn,

How long was the War Glaive before you did the additions and how long after?  Also, how much did it cut down on the blade?

I don't have those pieces anymore but.....

The War Glaive is 13in long without.

With I'm fairly certain it added about 3 to 3 1/2in to it.

It made the saber not very wieldable.

I love the War Glaive, I think it's super sleak and easy to use. MJ loves the CG dark War Glaive so much I got her a normal one in her favorite color SRD.

My attempt at showing that the balance has now moved back to the choke point...

Hell F******* Yeah!

That looks sick, you just earned a point.

What kind of paint and sealer did you use? Just an enamel?

Grin Thanks! I admit I cheated - it's one of those decals that people put on cars, I measured the hilt and asked the seller for a 3.5" one.

Regardless, it looks awesome.
