I've slowly been building this hobby from ground up over the past couple of years, and now I'm so confident in my skill I like to broadcast it
The painting technique I use has delevoped from trial and error so many times, that it's really hard to explain. It's mostly a combination of brushes, an airbrush, and liquid latex.
First step is plastic is mixed, and they're pulled from a mold:
Primed, and liquid latex technique starts from the primer base
Layer after layer of latexing, and painting, the back of the helmet is complete
For some reason I lost pictures of the dome layering, but after the back of the helmet, I work on the top of the dome, and the lower cheeks.. after that is the upper cheeks
Which finally leaves the mandibles (red part) to be painted!
After that, I begin doing the major detailing such as tiny scratches, maybe putting some paint on my fingers and flicking it really tiny to show some sand blasting in areas. Along with hand painting and weathering the kill stripes, and then it's time for the clear coat after all that
This is the one I'm currently working on for a customer, so it's not 100% complete yet. All I have to do is add the ear pieces and install the visor (WORST PART)
But this one right here is what I made my Dad for Christmas, he's a huge Chiefs fan. All it is is a helmet made up with the same ESB weathering I always do, but with Kansas City Chiefs colors
But after I gave him that, found out that my mother had bought him tickets to the Chiefs Vs. Packers game for the end of 2011. Which means, I NEEDED TO MAKE FULL ARMOR FOR THE GAME AND WEAR MY DAD'S HELMET.
For the armor I used sheets of Sintra that I had laying around forever, here's the pieces cut out
Primed, and added the battle damage with a heat gun, and also formed the pieces to my body
Here I began painting the Chiefs colors with the same Boba Fett battle damage (I'm really anal about attention to detail + movie accuracy)
More painting and weathering
All done!
