War Glaive Review

This is the beginning of my review of my new US War Glaive.  I received notification 12/18/2012 at 2200 Eastern Time that my package had been shipped.  It is scheduled to begin the trek to my home on 12/20/2012.  I will say that this certainly surprised me that my saber was worked on Saturday. 

I honestly have to say that this type of customer service surprised me.  So if you are looking at purchasing a saber, you need to think about the people that are willing to give up a weekend to make a customer like me happier sooner than expected. 

Once the saber arrives, I will conduct a video opening.  I will have my wife take some more awesome pictures like she did of my Archon V1.

Sorry about that.  I failed to mention that I ordered it the very last day of the Raffle.  2/6/2012.

You also have to account that they were out of the production area from 2/10/2012 to 2/15/2012. 

So that means that my War Glaive, with everything possible that could be added to it and the fact that they had a huge number of orders come in during the raffle, it took a grand total of 6 days to complete. 

[I want this review to be as detailed as possible.  I want any potential new customers to understand the amount of care and work that goes into creating an Ultrasaber and how much dedication it takes to make sure the customer gets a quality product in a reasonable amount of time.]

Guardian Blue LED with Obsidian sound, Silver Flash, Blue AV switch, Heavy Grade Blade. Quick Disconnects on the LED so that I can add Artic Blue later on.

Updated:  Fed Ex states that my saber's expected delivery date will be 2/24/2012.  So that puts a fully tricked out saber at 6 days to construct and 4 days to make the journey from the West Coast to the East Coast.  Not bad if you ask me!

It is a 4 day delivery.  It took 6 days to construct.  I live in the Eastern Time Zone.

The saber arrived today at 2:50 PM. Eastern.  A video review will follow.

Ok, here is my written review while I am waiting for my videos to load.

1.  Saber was well protected with peanuts and bubble wrap.

2.  My heart nearly skipped a beat as I pulled it from the box and saw those silver claws. 

3.  Before turning the saber on, all I could think was "this silver is bright".  Even the blade gives you the impression that the saber is all silver.

4.  The AV switch was perfectly placed on the hilt.  My hands fit perfectly on this saber and were not hindered in single or double hand.

5.  The pommel was a little loose when it arrived but a quick 1/4 turn and it was tight and flush.

6.  The setup had 2 LiIon batteries and the quick disconnect.  The Heavy Grade blade was perfect to me.  It did not feel much heavier when I interchanged the mid-grade blade from my Archon V1.  I saw the weight difference as minimal.

7.  Once on, I was blown away by the sound.  The pommel allows a really good resonance and I love the sound font that came on the saber. 

8.  The Blue of the AV switch was bright and the blade was bright in Guardian Blue.  I placed my Archon with Mid-Grade Blade next to the War Glaive and I could tell a slight difference in how the color was presented but the brightness did not seem affected by the thicker blade.

9.  Took me a little bit to figure out how to get the clash to work.  Once I did, I loved the silver.

10. The lock up feature I almost wore out because it was simply amazing.  If you are wondering whether to get the Flash on Clash feature, spend the extra money.  It is worth it!!!!

11. The hilt was lighter than I imagined but was still very solid.

12. The overall length of the saber with a 36" blade was 45".  The blade recessed into the hilt 4".

13. The recharger was well protected and very easy to use.

14. I was thankful that the batteries came with a charge so that I could use it immediately.

15. I requested a wrench because those in my tool box are bulky to carry around.  The wrench was secured to the blade with shrink wrap so that it could not get lost. 

My impression of the quality of shipping is 10 out of 10.

My satisfaction with the quality of the workmanship is 10 out of 10.

The price was well within my budget and the quality of the saber exceeded my price expectations.

I honestly have to say that once I looked upon the saber, I felt that Ultra and Deep knew exactly what I wanted.  This saber made my day!

The order was perfect although I did send one question to the company:  I did not find a USB cable included so that I could change the sounds on my saber.  I may have overlooked the fact that I needed to order one.  If this was my oversight, then I will remedy this.  Due to the large volume of orders I know these guys were working on, the super quality of my saber, and the really great sound that came with the saber; I have no quarrel if this was an oversight.  This saber has already exceeded my wildest expectations.

On the subject of videos, I apologize in advance that the quality of them will not be that great as I did not have a cameraman at the time.  My wife is going to do photos on 2/25/2012 and I will post those as soon as she is finished.  After reviewing my videos, I was sad to say that I did not do that great of a job but I wanted to make an impact of how a candid video that was unscripted would show that Ultrasabers is truly a great quality product and that those wanting to enter the saber hobby need to look no further than Ultrasabers.

The mini USB is not included without having ordered one.  Several cell phones do include them, however, as do some cameras, and they are relatively inexpensive to find at a local computer store.

Thanks Ed.  You are the best.  I found my wife's MP3 player (non-Apple) to be a mini-USB.  So I am set to go.  Thanks for the information as it pointed me in the right direction.
