Today I received the set of sabers I had ordered, and they are EPIC.  The UltraEdge lights up the blade magnificently, even in a lit room.  And in the dark... they simply burn.  The packaging was a little messy, as the packing peanuts wanted to fly out of the box, but once the sabers were out, the plastic bags came off quickly.  The couplers were plastic wrapped to the blades, so that was a little annoying to take off, but I was rather excited and impatient at the time...

I was pleasantly surprised to find that Ultra had included batteries, even though I have my own.  Further surprising, was that the Dominix V2s take 2 AAA's, whereas the Aeons each take 4 AAA's.  I now have extra batteries.  Thank you Ultra.  Moving on from the batteries, the hilts are well balanced against the blade, which despite a few warnings, was not too heavy at all despite being the Heavy Grade.  The balance is just forward of the emitter, which is perfect for twirling, even though it's not movie-accurate. Roll Eyes  There are a few minor things that I will complain about, such as the Dominix' leaving a dark residue on my hands, and the tips not completely lighting up.  Also, one of the pommels has a small spike on the inside:

Other than that, they're awesome:

Just a quick correction for you my friend, I have an Aeon myself and I can tell you that they do not take 4 AAAs, it's the LED that determines how many batteries are used. I have a blazing red aeon and a fire orange standard issue, both of which take 2 AAAs. As far as I've read, those are the only two colors that take only 2 AAAs. As someone with 4 rechargeable AAAs, having these two colors is very conveniant for me, my charger takes forever to charge and only takes two batteries at a time.

And I wouldn't worry about being movie accurate with the balance haha, light weighs nothing. Ever wonder why only force sensitives wield lightsabers? I imagine one might need the force to effectively use a weapon that only has handle weight.

Just imagine holding a flashlight that can cut through almost anything,
that doesn't weigh much right? Now hold it and do those spinning
moves, let us see your limbs fall off!

Ok, thanks for the correction about the batteries.  That makes more sense.

And yeah, I've tried doing some spins with flashlights, and my buddy said I lasted a whole 5.2 seconds before I "died".

So seeing as you have Aeons in jedi colors and Dominix's in sith colors (I count orange as sith mainly because of it being a warm color and close to red :p) have you ever thought of making a saberstaff out of your red and orange or green and blue? I joined my Aeon and SI for a few but I was worried about fudging up the threading so I didn't do it again. I thought I wouldn't like it because thinking about it, it reminded me of those crappy plastic saber toys you find at amusement parks and whatnot that are more than one color for no reason. But when I had them joined, I thought it looked amazing, albeit the thing was impossible to move around the house with, getting out the door to twirl around in the night was a challenge with dual 36 inch blades.

That's an easy fix. Just carry them out separately and attach the coupler outside. Tongue

Nice. I have a Guardian Blue Aeon and I love it. Wish I could afford 4 sabers at once...

Actually, I ordered them as battle staffs.  It's cheaper, and they came with couplers, even though I mostly use 'em as individuals.  And yes, I love how the orange/red staff looks.  On camera, you can't really tell 'em apart, especially when they're in motion.  Sorry the pics are crappy, my camera doesn't like me.

I can definitely tell which is red and orange, even with your camera hating you.

Oh... yeah, now I see it.  Adjusting to the awesomeness must have been affecting my vision.  As a great Jedi once said:  "Your eyes deceive you, don't trust them."

Yes, destroying things is fun.  Although for now, I'm content with twirling these.  Gotta wait until my brother gets back from his three-week trip, and then we can choreograph a fight scene.

Sure will.  One thing I'm wondering about, though, is how to go about "cutting" a battle staff into two sabers, like Obi-wan vs. Maul in Ep. 1.  It takes too long to unscrew the coupler during the fight, and I can't think of any other ways to hold 'em together that are quick, yet sturdy.

Your best bet is to unscrew it just before the strike, pull them apart right as the strike lands, then edit the video so it looks legit.
