When you think about it...any would be over the top fantastic.  Yeah, an air bender can suck all the air out of an opponent. A water/liquid bender can drain the blood of someone. A fire bender can char-broil. And a metal bender can crumple Wolverine or Cap's shield or squeeze the life out of Ironman. |

Such evil thoughts! Give a guy a little bit of pretend power and instant corruption! lol Fire could evaporate water...steam...could bake/break down earth...dust...could expand within air...fire storm Etc. The more skilled of the counter would still be able to use the defensive...a skilled water bender could redirect the steam for example. ***** On the evil side or dark side of the house... Airbender could create tight focused threads of air...piercing nearly anything or draw oll teh air out of the lungs instantly Firebender could boil off body fluids into steam from within Earthbender could draw out the heavy minerals from the blood/flesh...the metal bending which is insanely rare upon rare could pull the iron directly out Waterbender could stop and reverse blood flow...and any body fluids |

If they freeze it by slowing down the water molecules what's to say that you couldn't just reverse the process by making the molecules move more rapidly?

A big bump towards light and dark force use here...once you start reversing blood flow, steaming from the inside, pulling the iron out, collapsing lungs...these are steps too far...the Sith would approve  The show focuses on the coarse aspects...pushing with air, ebb/flow with water, burning with fire, crushing with earth...enough to create the desired effect. The advanced aspects are rare among the rare benders...most have limited power and focus...so these high considerations are pretty much beyond all but a couple benders worldwide. But yes the actual science aspect of bending is really something interesting to consider...boggles the mind with infinite details. |

Earth for me. It's got a huge potential for offense as well as defense, and it is the only element that can make stuff to last. (Aside from ice, but that's advanced) There's just so much potential there, that it really captivates me.
On the other hand, I also like Fire. It seems much more internally focused, requiring superb balance and control. The movements/forms are appealing to me as well. Plus, it lets you make s'mores instantly.

I'd have to go with water, just because water seems more essential, even though to be honest you would probally be with out your element the most if you picked water. Maybe I should switch to air because it is ever present.

I would totally be a Fire Bender. All of my favorite DnD spells had "fire" in the name, and I designed a race of drow loosely based on the Fire Benders from Avatar. BURN!!!! |

That would ultimately be a tough choice. I'd say fire or air, although air seems to be more versatile while fire is mostly offensive.
Like Lucien said, air would give me Jedi powers so I'd probably go with that.
