Do Not Underestimate The Power of the Dark Side

« on: June 27, 2012, 12:31:13 PM »

Hey guys i am new to the Ultrasabers products, I tried searching for this but i am wondering if the Archon V2 closely resembles Lukes ROTJ saber?
It doesn't have an activation box but i am trying to decide whether to get the Guardian or the Archon v2 as i am more of a replica saber guy.
Cheers

It's certainly the closest to it, if that's what you're asking. It has several similarities, but many differences (including the box, like you said). If nobody else does, I'll post some comparison pics later once I get to my computer (I'm on a tablet now).

Yea it has some similarities. Thats why i am hinting towards the guardian. wont be able to afford a graflex so the prophecy  also looks similar to the anikan / vader although that too has many differences. So yeah the Guardian seems to be the most legit one to go for.

I have an Archon V2, and it is a fantastic saber in every way!

What attracted me to it was its similarity to Luke's ROTJ saber (though I got mine in Blazing Red, as opposed to Consular Green), and its versatility.  Having the ability to change out the neck, emitter, and pommel, as well as the LED assembly if you get the Quick Disconnect feature allows you to change the appearance of the saber enough to make it feel like you own many sabers, in one purchase.  Once I had it, it just felt good in my hand.  It was equally nice with a two-hand grip, or one-handed.  It is a clean design, that eschews the control box, which I consider to be a good thing, at least for dueling.

Previous to discovering Ultrasabers, my son had  Master Replicas Force FX ANH versions of Luke, and Vader's sabers.  Both have the control box, and I found it gets in the way, and is darned uncomfortable even when lightly dueling (which is all you can really do with those).  Just my humble opinion, but the Archon V2 is better for omitting the control box.

Good luck in your evaluation of a future saber.

If you prefer replicas, I would also highly suggest the consular.

And as someone who just acquired a Guardian, you won't be disappointed if you go with one.  It's GORGEOUS.

If a replica look is what you want I would say the Guardian. If you want something to duel with, get the Archon V2.

I have a luke rotj and my friend has an archon, they are similar in almost every way the biggest and really only difference being the lack of the activation box which mind you gets in the way of some moves while spinning/dueling. The archon is also one of the best made sabers for dueling as the blade goes into it about 4in. So you could go that path and add the green av switch for additional flair or the guardian for the prequel obi look, or the consular with a red av switch for the qui-gon look. If you get the dark prophecy and sand back parts of it you will get the dark prophecy le look which looks very similar to vaders from rots. You can do the same thing with the dark prophecy but sand the emitter area as well to get a ani ep 2 look. Just some food for thought.

I was ooking at getting a dark prophercy with red blade to make it kinda like a darth vader, although how come the obsidian in the prophecy models are $95 instead of $75?

Sabers above 100$ have a 20$ discount on Obsidian installs, as far as I know.

The Obsidian price of $75 is the inductee price that was on all sabers when the board first got released.  The $95 is the regular price, which applies to the V3 hilts.  The awesome folks at Ultrasabers have mercifully left the former in place, despite assurances that the price would go up.

Just my 2 bits here Skywalkwer, but most of Ultra's sabers are either unique to him or his rendition of a commonly accepted lightsaber.  His models are not going to be 100% replicas as he does not have a license from Uncle George to do such.  From a distance, Ultra's Consular, Archon, and Guardian look like Qui-Gon's, Luke's, and Obi-Wan's sabers.  I know that some people on the web do exact replicas but I personally try to stay clear as licensing to do such is not made known to the selling public by some of these smiths.

What Ultra has going for his sabers is that they look nice enough to put in a display box and showcase for others to see yet they are durable enough to enter a martial arts tournament with and go full force.

There are also web sites that sell parts that you can use yourself to make the finishing touches to sabers so that they are 100% replicas of the movie saber and is totally legitimate as you are not making them for profit which Uncle George has been gracious enough to allow his movies fans to do.
