This is my first ever review of my first ever Ultra Saber. I like to think of myself as a good reviewer, (critic) I’ve reviewed games that other people have made, and movies and stuff.
I will be judging this saber, on several things, but also in a way, I will be judging an Ultra Saber in general I think.
Packaging: This really doesn’t have anything to do with the Saber, but I want to mention it because I feel it should be talked about. I mean, after all, you just shelled out loads of money on an Ultra Saber. Heck yeah! You want it to be intact and undamaged when you get it!
Quality: How strong it is, how well I can fight with it, and I will be mentioning the blades.
Brightness/Lighting: Flash on clash, how bright it is, again I know it depends on the blade. I have a Heavy Grade Blade and an Ultra Edge. I’m going to educate you.
Power: This is important; I notice that many reviews do not talk about this. I’m going to educate you.
Sound: This pretty much should describe itself. Sensitivity and stuff, and loud and clear it sounds, the soundboard.
Overall: Keep in mind everybody fights differently. This is my views on this Saber. I picked this one out because I thought it would best suit me the way I fight. I like to twist the blade and flip it around. This one is perfect for that.
Anyway, without further ado, a present to you The Standard Issue Battle Saber v3 with Sound! Here’s the stat’s on her:

Let’s work our way down the line:
Packaging: 10/10 Amazing, I don’t know how they could have done better. It took me a while to get it out of the box but hey, that’s a good thing isn’t it? The whole thing was wrapped in bubble wrap. There was no way that it could have been damaged during shipping. They did a very good job.
Well, I took it out, but was slightly sad at first. (I had to wait) It was very hot, there was nothing that could be done about it, I don’t blame Ultra Sabers at all, it was 110*F that day. My point though, is that I had to sit and wait for a while…… I waited, and once it cooled I turned it on.
I was amazed! Very beautiful! Very… Wow. The Saber comes all ready to go!! Batteries charged and everything! I started swinging it around and had a real blast! Definitely worth the money I paid for it.
Sound/Sound Sensor Board: 8/10 I instantly went to down adjusting the sensors so that the Sound sounded right. Over the next week I uploaded many different sounds fonts and fiddled with the sensors a ton.
I found that, (sadly) no matter how much a fiddle with the sensors I will never be able to get it “just right” I got it pretty close though. You really have to be “one with the blade” at times. It took me a good week (and I’m still working on it) to get the sensors to a good place where I liked it. Sometimes I would swing and it wouldn’t make any noise, or I would walk slowly and it would scream at me. A little bit of adjusting can go a long way!
Another thing is Flash on Clash, that took a lot of work as well, sometimes I would swing and stop and it would flash, sometimes I’d hit something and it wouldn’t flash! Again, it’s all about the settings, and how you hold it. Be “one with the blade”
I’ve had my Saber for two weeks now, so I understand pretty well. I don’t get these problems anymore because like I said, I got it tuned up nicely, and I have developed a nice style for holding the blade and using it the way I like.
There are a lot of Pros that can be said about the sound, it sounds very Jedi True! If you adjust the sensors right, it honest to god sounds like a real Light Saber! Another great thing is the fact that you can switch fonts; you can make it sound however you like!
One thing that I don’t really like is loudness. I mean sure, it’s loud, but I wouldn’t mind if it was a little louder… It doesn’t really bug me, but it would be a nice feature.
Power: 6/10 This really bugged me, a lot! I got as I mentioned above the best batteries I could get. Now I know that my Ultra Saber is sucking up a lot of power with the brightness and the sound and all, but I was still expecting it to last a little longer. For all the money I paid, they could have a least thrown in a spare set of batteries, without the charger. And, I was sort of bummed that I couldn’t use normal batteries. (It would damage the Saber)
With moderate use I can get about an Hour of play time; which is pretty impressive after all. However, it takes about three hours for it to charge. This can be a real pain. I’m honestly thinking about getting backup batteries so that I don’t have to wait.
Honestly though, I know that there isn’t much that can be done about this, but I feel it should be mentioned.
Brightness/Lighting: 8/10 This took a lot of time to understand! It’s all about the Blade you get! The Blade I had that came with my Saber was a Heavy Grade Blade. I thought it was ok….. But you could clearly see that there was a blade there, and the blade was very heavy! Not like a real Light Saber.
The only real time I could use that blade was in the middle of the night, or in my dark living room… (Very crowded though) So after much research and talking to people I decided to order an Ultra Edge Blade.
Much better! It made the light much brighter. Everybody in my family would look out the window, see me at a distance and yell out to me that it honestly looked, like a real Light Saber. You wouldn’t believe the change of reaction that I got from changing out the Heavy Grade Blade, to the Ultra Edge Blade. People would drive buy slow, amazed at it.
However, as bright as it is, I still was hoping it would be brighter. The Light Sabers in the Saga shoots out light, it just is so dang bright! I know that we have to maintain physics and stuff, and power requirements and whatnot, so whatever. When you record or take pictures it looks much brighter, and when you see it from a distance it looks like a real Light Saber, so that’s all that matters.
Again, it’s all about the Blade you use, and also I’d imagine what color.
Quality: 9/10 Amazing! It’s so smooth, so slick, there’s no way this thing is breaking. I’ll probably have this Saber for years and years! I’m still a Padawan, I drop my Light Saber all the time. It doesn’t seem to take a hit though! Seriously folks, if you want quality you have to go with Ultra Sabers.
There is one thing that I do not like, and the reason that I am only giving these 9 points. The Sound Board is a little shaky in this Saber. I know it’s fine, but it feels a little awkward at times. Surely there is a way to do a little better job, a snapper on the inside or something. But like I said, it’s not a big deal, but it is there. That’s why I am only removing one point. And as somebody who builds stuff, woodworking and welding and small stuff, I understand that it is hard to do; sense you have to take the soundboard out to change the batteries. I may in fact, attempt to do something about this myself.
Over All: 8/10 Why would you want to buy this Light Saber?Why would you want to buy an Ultra Saber at all?Well, reread this review. I looked at probably a dozen sites that sold Light Sabers before I found Ultra Sabers. Ultra Sabers leaves other saber making companies in the dust. The Quality, Sound, Brightness, and all together make it look great! Just like a real Light Saber. Best of all, they are affordable.
Want proof of just how amazing they are? My brothers are both ordering theirs this very day. They are getting Sound, Flash on Clash and all of that. My dad may even get one soon! Honestly folks Ultra Sabers are amazing. My friends are even thinking about getting one. I seriously, have the makings of a Jedi Order.
But why get the Standard Issue? The main reason is the grip. It doesn’t really have a specific spot for grip. The whole handle is strait and smooth, so you can hold it anywhere. It makes it very easy for flipping and swinging it around. That is probably the best part about it.
Another thing is style. I am not a big style person; if I was I would have shelled out a little more money for the Guardian. The Standard Issue is beautiful, but not super fancy like many other Sabers. To me though, that is a good thing. And, don’t get me wrong, there is still style; the lines at the top and bottom of the Saber, and the Saber has a slight extension for the blade; it looks just like Dooku’s!
And, it is slightly cheaper than other Sabers. I saved almost 100 bucks. Well, not really saved, but spent less.
Over all, this is a great over all Saber for anybody. I highly recommend it if you are like me, and you like to twirl and twist the blade and such. It is perfect for both one, and two handed wielding. Another thing I recommend is you get the Catalyst Pommel. It’s slightly cheaper than other Pommels, but it looks amazing with the Standard Issue!
