Nice sabers, I'm a fan of the O-rings myself.
I like the feel of the V2 sabers for my hands (I have an Initiate V3 and V2).
I've been working on customizing mine and want to do a shroud-like thing, discovered that certain sizes of plumbing pipe from Lowes is just a tiny bit too small. Mine is going to go about 2/3rds of the way around so I think it'll fit snuggly to the larger portions of the hilt. Either going to drill & tap to hold it on with 2 small screws or JB and clamp it tightly for a day or two.
Gonna add a D-ring from the framing section of a craft store and a couple of thumb screws, weather it all and hope for the best. Hope those ideas are useful, good luck!

This is the grab bag I received. A very simple Aeon in GB (I asked for that color). I was expecting something more....exotic but this is a saber for training without disturbing people so it will do !  |

Having had a chance to play with a couple of v3 initiates, I'd actually be very happy to receive an Aeon or Dominix as a grab bag saber. A Dominix LE with a Dark Shock pommel is on my wish list.

That's pretty close to the config I'm looking at as well. Might go with a blazing red though, as I've got a couple of dark sabers already (Prophecy and Libby) in Adegan silver with colour disks, and I can get good oranges with those. I don't yet have a dedicated BR saber yet though.

Alright! Ordered my first saber ever right around a month ago, an Azure Reaper in Guardian Blue, for a Jedi cosplay at Gencon in August. Bought it with the Free Initiate offer, and got this nice little Initiate V3 in Blazing Red as a freebie.  And yes, I actually like the look of the Reaper without the silver neck, especially since I would have to disassemble the emitter every time I need to remove the blade, since it covers the retention screw hole. If I ever put the thing back on, I will drill a hole in the collar for the allen wrench. Instead, I am going to find some O rings to fill that gap.  So I saw the raffle come up, and ordered a Crimson Scorpion in Blazing Red to display crossed with the Reaper, and ordered a 2nd Initiate V3 in Blazing Red with two silver flush couplers and a silver Yari extension. With 24" blades, the handle will be 38 1/2" long, with 22" of blade on each end, for a total length that is an inch and a half shy of 7 feet long! Have some great customization ideas for this bad boy! I also ordered a pair of totally random Grab Bags, so now I have to sit and squirm like a kid waiting for Christmas! But I have to be patient, since they aren't shipping my order until the build my DOUBLE BLADED EMERALD EDITION RAVEN STAFF that I won in the raffle, which I measured out to be 43.25 MARTHA FRACKING INCHES LONG from claw tip to claw tip. Then with 36" blades the whole staff will be approximately 7'8 tip to tip. This is going to be a long week... |
