I always recommend season 1 episode 16 as the best episode to start with. It's a great episode and it gives a good idea of the gist of the show as a whole. Season 2 episode 4 is a personal favorite of mine, and as such I also recommend it. From there, I would go back and watch in the proper order  Fantastic! Today is my day of and my feyonce as well as her sister is staying over night so we will watch it in your order! Will let you know what happened... ^^ Big thx for your time! +10 |

Kind of a late reply but... I went into it with low expectations, other than some very minor things such as Sunset Shimmer's demon form and Flash Sentry, it's just a really long mlp episode dedicated to the fans of the series, only everyone's in human form. One of the main problems I have with the mlp fandom and the complaint against Sunset Shimmer's demon form is that fans constantly demand more and more complex plots and for the show to adopt a more "dark and gritty" look, or in other words, emulate everyone's fan-fictions and fan videos. Don't get me wrong "Children of the Night" is an awesome video, but in the end it's just a fan video. The show, in the end, is intended for young girls and while the producers and directors are aware of our enjoyment of it and put little snippets here and there, to make it solely intended for us severely cuts out another portion of their community, one of which I argue is still the majority in the end. Honestly, while Sunset Shimmer's evil side isn't unique in any way, it's still somewhat terrifying to consider that she did turn everyone into mindless zombies for a few minutes. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it. For example, one thing that it addresses is how people tend to stick to their own groups at the High School where as in the mlp universe Twilight remarks that it's not how it is where she comes from. Personally, I didn't mind Flash Sentry because the general emphasis of a matriarchal society was present in the pony dimension in the end. I'm looking forward to the new show and how Sunset Shimmer fits in. I believe it is already out on DVD Luna, but you can watch it on dailymotion in HD located here:

Personally, I liked it overall. It was like watching the first episode over again, in a way. There were several parts that threw me off, but I give it a 7/10 (which, in a real scoring system, is pretty good, despite what most sites do nowadays). Now to rewatch it and see if it holds up. |
