At last, the masterpiece I ordered from Ultrasabers has arrived. I don't think I can adequately describe the fervor with which I snatched this saber from the UPS guy... pretty sure I sprinted down the stairs when I heard him, and sported a massive and idiotic grin.
Oh well.
This initial review is not gonna be detailed. I apologize for that, but let's face it - I'm WAY too excited about this thing to sit down and write out a thoughtful analysis of it. I do plan to do a video review, both to share the saber with you all and snatch some review points, so you can expect that sometime.
Let's call this "initial impressions" then!
I'm not sure what my first thought was, since it was likely an unintelligible jumble of excited syllables. Once I managed to contain (somewhat) my child-like glee, I pressed that lovely AV switch and ignited the saber for the first time. "That color... it's perfect." Emerald is the only way I can describe it, and considering that's what I was going for it's spot on PERFECT. I'll give you a bit of backstory on this - a long time ago (not really, but it seems that way) there was an awesome dude on here known as Darth Wraith. Some of you know him from back then, others have only heard legends. He resurfaced recently, but hasn't fully returned (yet). Anyway, he had this idea to make a Jacen Solo / Darth Caedus inspired hilt using a MR Vader ESB and a Lux V Cyan LED, being as Jacen's saber is often described as "emerald". He used this picture as a basis for the hilt choice:

For those of you who don't know, the older Luxeon LEDs had varying "bins" which produced different shades of colors. Cyan had 6 bins, with Bin 1 being a sort of light blue (Arctic Blue would be a rough estimate) and Bin 6 being essentially green. He recommended a Bin 3, which is a nice mix of both, and so I set out on my mission to build such a saber. Along the line I changed my mind, shying away from the unwieldy MR hilt (which I did buy and found to be somewhat bulky) and finally deciding to go with a Dark Prophecy. I emailed Deep asking him if he would be willing to use an LED I sent in for the build, a Lux V Cyan Bin 3 I picked up, and he quickly responded that it would be no problem. Very excited, I sent it in and ordered the saber.
A few days later, to my utter shock, I received notification that my saber was shipped. Whaaaaat? How? I'm fairly certain the folks at Ultrasabers use some kind of magic, otherwise such things aren't possible. I digress though.
Sadly living on the other side of the country I have to wait around a week for my sabers to arrive (though I feel for our European members who must be possessed of incredible patience), but soon afterwards I managed to secure my hilt. With no further ado, here are a couple basic pics I snapped:
Lights off:

Lights on:

They're in my kitchen, as you can probably tell, but in truth that was the only surface I could find to adequately show off the beautiful anodized hilt. I love it! The thing handles like a dream too, simple enough to be a solid combat saber but detailed enough to show off. It's relatively compact so it functions nicely as a single hander - this may be my new go-to dueler! All in all, it's a fantastic hilt and I'm gonna stop writing now to go play with it more... so that alone should say something about it.
Thanks for reading Saberforum, and THANK YOU ULTRASABERS for providing me with yet another excellent lightsaber!
More pics, video, and analysis to come...
