And if you can do your footwork on the beach... you will have good footwork anywhere.

Practicing footwork in sand is an excellent way to train. It's just cumbersome enough to be restrictive, but no so much that it detracts from good technique. And after training in sand, working on grass, dirt, or any other surface will seem easier.

There's also a place with big rocks that can be used for balance training.

I was thinking: One person on each rock, practicing different strikes and parries, against each other. The moves would be slow, concentrating on form and technique rather than speed and scoring a hit.

Plus, if someone is taking pictures, sometimes the waves can be seen crashing against the rocks. This can create some spectacular pictures!
