because this is just an online forum, not an official document or a university essay, so I purposely miss periods, don't use capitals and throw in the occasional typo. not striving for 100% accuracy. because

I thought you usually panicked when a period is missed.

But, particularly in this day and age, where the interweb literally gives you access to the sum total of all the information in human history, ignorance is no excuse. However, people should also be able to make the distinction between "entertainment" and "fact".

That is another issue.  We have a freedom of knowledge distribution unheard of in Human history.  But that means the ignorant can also spread info.  Then there is the business side of it.   Won't name the products but there was a particular entertainment that gave a situation from history that (with the info we have) never happened.  Of course it was done simply to be entertaining...BUT.... because people liked it, there were all of a sudden books in the History section about the subject as if it was fact..using "pseudo-History" as I have heard it called.  Those books were made simply because the subject was Popular (even if it was false) and presented as fact.  So the ignorant now have back up for their ignorance.

It's a sad state of affairs that you need to train you about sarcasm. That's what you get for not watching more varied programming. Although, I grew up watching shows like Blackadder and I'm not sure there are any shows like that around today.

Doesn't matter if you notice the typos from other people. You yourself have made one now, so cannot act as though you are exempt from typos, which we all know are usually accidental.

Very true. Not everyone feels compelled to point out typos of others. Nobody is perfect. Plus, it just adds to txt speak which is really popular and a precursor to Newspeak from 1984.

Just because "everyone" does it, doesn't mean it's ok.  If everyone does a stupid thing, it's still a stupid thing.

People respond to criticism one of two ways.  Usually, 99.89% of the time, their response is to be critical back, or find a flaw in the person who criticized them.  This is extremely prevalent in arguments between two people in a couple, in the business world, more so the higher you go in management, and online forums.

The rest of the time, a person listens to the criticism, honestly self analyses their behavior, decides if the criticism is valid or not, and responds as appropriate, either changing their behavior if the criticism is valid or not if the criticism is not valid.

Anyone who studies human nature and/or behavior can see immediately why the first response is so prevalent in human society.  Or I should probably say, Western/Eurocentric societies.
