Sigh...I was typing on phone...5@10% lol.

What sort of post apoc setting are you looking at for your current creative project?

Cheesy

Very similar to yours. Before 2100. Rapid mutation. Nations being constructed along with many smaller groups of wanderers, drifter, and hermits.
Things like that. The new nations are a little more built up and powerful than the small groups of people, but the drifters now better how to survive in the wild.

Animal and Human mutations. Advanced mutation caused by an Alien mineral. Effects different people in different ways. etc etc.

I have played around with just about every aspect of potential for post apoc game settings over the last...hmmm...37+ years   Roll Eyes

I have found that my preferences today are vastly different then they were before.

Some of the big issues for me is the desire to have some science in with my fantasy lol.

How to reduce the world's population to create the sparseness that is normally seen in such situations and helps to prevent quick reconstruction after the fall.

The reason for mutations is a good one...either make an effort to explain or just look away from the light lol.

A big bad...I tend to lean towards beastmen these days...packs of feral men, mutant men and animals, etc. that tend to compliment each other creating a mob of like looking types

And other issues but mostly these  Smiley

So, basically, you've been doing this since before I was born (Feel old yet?) Tongue

Anyway, yeah, that sounds awesome. I try to never look away from the light and always make an effort to come up with an explanation for things.

Ok the setting is much like this scene from downtown Manhattan

Your mutant animal character (self) is a chimera...a blend of animals...2 at least and 3 at most.

The percentage should be relative to the number, 2 would be 50:50...3 would be 33:33:33, but this does not mean the upper of a cat and the lower of a dog...just equal measure in the end.

So what animals would you favor as a chimera? (the animals need not be related, thus could be mammal and reptile if desired, but the stock animals should be real and exist at the time of the fall...so no unicorns or dinosaurs Smiley )

For me I would look to create an effective ambush hunter with good senses and high end mobility...

cat + bat

monkey + parrot

That sort of thing  Smiley

A question of preference...in the above setting would you rather your character...

be able to fly without wings but with basic maneuverability, meaning up/across/down and not loopty loops or aerial acrobatics, more like an arrow or spear...simple directions...point A to point B

or

be able to fly with your proportional (within reasonable consideration...it is still science fantasy after all) wings (bird, bat, etc.) and have realistic speed and standard maneuverability that most all winged creatures have

Leopard + fruit bat I think for me.

Or, if in a group with a pack mentality I would go with Wolf + spider.

I'd say wings, to be honest. More aesthetically pleasing and they seem a bit more practical to me.

I also prefer the wings also.

How about mental powers...do 'yall think big head to go along with giant intellect, psionics, and related mental abilities...or do you prefer the normal looking type?

I prefer the normal type, but the big head looks more mutant-y to me.

Would you still take normal if it meant less power?

Say big head has 10D6 of mental blast and normal head has 7D6...still take normal head?

Ok, in a science fantasy setting...a world of savagery, super science, and sorcery...

your character has lost a forearm/hand during the creation process.

Would you prefer...

1. a stump...you could attach a prop arm, a blade, etc. if desired

2. a human replacement arm attached with magics or super science (clearly different color and size perhaps)

3. a mutant tentacle

4. an animal replacement arm attached with magics or super science (choice)

5. a cybernetic arm (same qualities of a human arm)

6. other mutant arm such as longer, larger, etc. but obviously mutie

I'd have to evaluate the pros and cons of each type before making a decision...

Agreed.
